Two-For-One Anime Review · 8:37pm Sep 12th, 2022
Romeo's Blue Skies-The sweetest anime boy that ever lived sells himself into slavery to pay off his father's medical debt, makes friends and falls in love (twice) along the way. Honestly, one of the best forgotten anime of the '90's. Romeo loses a lot, but keeps on trying. Also, Piccolo is best ferret. It can be hard to see this good hearted boy get beaten, falsely imprisoned, lose two friends to illness, survive a storm and generally get his heart broken, but the pay off is worth it.
Shikimori's Not Just A Cutie-A fascinating, gender flipped deconstruction of traditional tropes in which the "ditzy girl" has a strong, protective boyfriend. In this anime, the boy (Izumi) is a ditzy, clumsy cutie who needs the protection of his strong, masculine-acting girlfriend. Both are in a predicament due to socially enforced norms-she wants to be "cute" and he wants to be "strong", but in the end they realize they love each other just as they are. It's sweet and simple. The end is adorably heartwarming.
NSFW Warning: Contains lewd acts such as h*nd holding and a kiss on the cheek
(LOL, If Shikimori and Izumi actually did anything involving taking their clothes off, they'd burst into flames from embarrassment.)
Hand holding?!
I just about burst into flames from embarrassment just from reading that!
The first one sounds good. The second kind of meh, I'm not too fond of trope reversals.
