Three Kings (Short Story) · 4:18pm Sep 21st, 2022
Once there were three kings who set out to conquer the world. The first king declared "by strength I will conquer." He led great armies and conquered many nations, but there were always stronger enemies and upon the field of battle, he died.
The second king proclaimed. "by wealth, I will conquer." He sent out merchants to all the nations of the world and his kingdom grew rich, but his people lacked virtue. They grew corrupt and lawless and the king could only watch as it collapsed.
The third king declared, "by love, I shall conquer." He uphled the cause of the orphan and the widow, he opened his storehouse to the hungry, his rulings were just and all the nations of the earth came to him, submitting to his law, for his law was love and it is love that is the master of the world-Quinyan Wisdom Story.
(Part of a world-building experiment.)
Soon the word about the kindness, altruism and generosity of the third king spread across the world. More and more people came to him asking and even demanding for more and more - and the king coulnd not say no. Soon he had nothing - no power, no wealth, not even his kingdom - and was lost and forgotten in the utter misery.
Moral - do not fall into extremes, be smart.
Sounds like some very classic story.
When I saw it in the feed I actually thought you were going to talk about the 3 kings in the bible.
