    Awaken

It's been a while, but - while I'm not likely to write anything new, sorry! - I'm at a place now where I feel comfortable logging back in and reading (and sometimes commenting!) again. I know this didn't really merit an announcement, but I've seen a few DMs and comments since the last time I was here, and I just wanted to reassure people that if you want to message me or leave comments, they will

I won't be deleting the account, because it's been pointed out to me before that some people somehow found something they liked in my stories and it's not really fair of me to take it away, but I'm done with Fimfiction. Thanks for having me. Bye.

In which I apologise for being a year behind schedule and note a remarkable coincidence

So, the five of you who are still following me will note it's been a while since I published a story, and even longer since I teased my big upcoming project - nearly a year since that blog, in fact! I'm so sorry.

New story, and 100 followers! · 5:27pm Apr 22nd, 2020

So, the big news was going to be that I just published my 14th story:

TAway
A unicorn with an unwanted special magical talent isolates herself on a remote hillside, away from other ponies, for their sake and hers.

Away is my first first-person story (I've always wanted to start a story with the words "Next thing I know..."), and it's also my entry for Secret Moon's Self-Isolation Writing Contest, although despite being topical, the idea actually predates both the contest and The Current Unpleasantness.

I really enjoyed writing it and I hope you'll enjoy reading it; I tried to handle two pretty dark ideas (isolation and the narrator's "gift") in a more, uh, Cloptimist way - slice of life introspection over horror and gore - and with an upbeat tone at the end. And I had fun making the cover art, too.

But! Stop the press! The even bigger news (to me) is that earlier today, I passed the 100 followers mark! "Yeah, big deal", you may think, especially if you were around back in the day. The thing is, though, I'm genuinely excited and kind of humbled - I've only been here since last February, and so I'm treating this as a real honour for a 2019-vintage author.

Thank you to everyone who's following me, I'll try and write plenty more stories to justify your interest - I already have seven unfinished pieces in my drafts. And in the meantime, again, I hope you like this one!

Cheers,

TC

I'll be sure to give it a look, fellow contest-writer. Congrats on the big 100!

Thanks! Although I don't expect to do well in contests (no false modesty here, I just never place!), it turns out they're really useful for getting me to actually write things. Good luck and thank you for the congratulations on 100, I'm inordinately pleased about that!

Excellent! Another story for the RiL list, I think. And contrats on reaching three figures! I'm glad. :yay:
