Doom Eternal, Guardian, and the Continuing Story · 10:42pm Mar 15th, 2020
Greetings everyone, Thule117 here, just wanted to make a few announcements regarding my story going forward. Particularly how I plan to handle the lore of the coming Doom Eternal. As some of you are likely aware, ID Software has stated that they plan to do a bit more storytelling with Doom Eternal and expand on the lore of the Doom universe. Now, as to what that means for Guardian my plan is quite simple: I'm largely going to ignore it. I know I probably do not need to tell you all this, but Guardian has pretty much become it's own universe, and is now best described as a highly elaborate "What If" scenario, as are most fan fictions all things considered.
Now, please don't think that means Doom Eternal isn't going to have an effect on the story. I still fully intend to use whatever parts of the new lore I can to enhance my own tale of the Doom Slayer. However at the same time I wish to make it clear that I will not be tortuously trying to shoehorn in elements of Doom Eternal just for the sake of it. That said, I already have a plan for putting in the weapons from Doom Eternal, (along with more than a few of my own design) and Derran will also eventually receive the armor upgrade from the new game (thanks in part to a certain English accented friend of Derpy Hooves actually). So rest assured that as many of the amazing things you see in the game will be included as possible.
Now, I also have a bit of a further announcement. After much consideration, I have decided to break the main story of Guardian into two books. The first Guardian itself, will be concluding soon. The story will then be picked up in the next book Legion with a short story in between that I haven't decided on a name for yet, but that will detail the events of the MLP movie, and should offer a great deal of catharsis to those of us who were less than happy with the movie's less than stellar (in my opinion anyway) plot.
Ok I think that's everything I wanted to say. I apologize if most of it seems to be information that was already readily apparent, but I wanted to take time to allay any fears or answer any questions that might rise from the story as it diverts from the new Doom lore. Perhaps I'm being a little paranoid, but I felt best to, head this off at the pass, so to speak. Whatever the future holds for both Doom and My Little Pony, I hope that I can continue to surprise and delight you with my writing, and that you will continue to enjoy both Guardian and the upcoming Legion fully.
