D&D: why the new OGL is really bad

There's some controversy right now about the new OGL (Open Gaming License) published by Wizards of the Coast, the company behind Dungeons & Dragons.

I don't talk about D&D here a lot, since I know it's not relevant to Fimfiction, but I think it's worth getting this news out. Also they're owned by Hasbro, the same company that own MLP, so it's worth knowing what they're up to.

Season 10 Bingo Writing Contest: One week to go! · 11:59am Feb 23rd, 2020

One week to go!

If you're writing a story for the Season 10 Bingo Writing Contest, you have one week to publish your first chapter on Fimfiction and add the story to the contest folder.

Judges needed

We're still open to new judges, if you think you can read stories quickly and judge them fairly. The more judges we get, the fewer stories each one has to read. Details here

Knowing my story is going to be a shitfic and thus have no chance of doing well, if you don’t think it’s a conflict of interest, I’ll volunteer to judge, IF you have some sort of rubric/judging guide for me to follow, and you send mostly shorter stories my way.

On the other hoof, having my name attached to this might be bad news for the contest.

The link above describes the process in a bit more detail. I'm using code to fairly allocate stories to judges to read, so I can't promise you'll get short fics only; and the latter stages are likely to have longer fics in that all judges need to read.

Alright well my offer is this: if you're super hard pressed I'll volunteer. I can also try to gather some of the judges from when I held a contest and send them your way. Do you want me to do that?

I can be one of the judges if you'd like.

Yes please, to both of you, if you're up for it. Current maths has each judge reading about 30,000 words for the qualifier round, and maybe the same again for the placement rounds.

Probably don't need to rally the troops, though.
