State of the Unicorn, in brief · 4:02pm Feb 9th, 2020
Well, Brexit may have happened* but not a lot else has around here. I'm still not ready to publish my next story, which has been sitting there three-quarters done for several weeks now. Things will insist on turning up and getting in the way. I mean, you're not actually missing very much, as it's only a silly little thing. But I definitely do not want to return to one of those "write virtually no ponyfic for 18 months" ruts. Maybe I should have a go at some flashfic prompts or something and shove them in Little Bits. But then I am a procrastinator extraordinaire, so don't count on that either. (Talking of flashfic, the February Flashfic 150 contest is open! This month's prompt is "Departures".)
I've been idly wondering (the best kind of wondering) what will happen to this place when Pony Life actually arrives, as it looks like is indeed going to happen. I don't really expect it to take away from FiM and EqG as the major sources of ponyfic, but with luck there'll be the odd story that takes what looks like being a pretty simple premise and runs somewhere unexpected with it. I'm neutral to mildly positive on the show itself, since it's hardly going to make much difference to G5. I don't really see any mileage in raging about it as some have been doing over on Equestria Daily. It's likely to be pretty easy to ignore for those who don't fall for it in any case. I'm just hoping we get some kind of updated trailer soon, maybe coinciding with the New York Toy Fair later this month.
* Sort of. Mostly. Ish. It's complicated. (Not that I wanted it anyway, but here we are.)
