Thursday Nightmare Night Update · 4:55pm Jan 9th, 2020
The new Nightmare Night chapter now sits at 13300 words with still more to go, so it's getting more and more likely that I'll have to break it up. In all honesty, I don't want to, since I want this to end with the Eclipse/Nightmare denouement, but last time I released a large chapter, it garnered weak response and interest for what I assumed was its daunting length.
I can at least report a bit of a breakthrough, with two more sections completed--it took a fresh Spike sex scene to finally break me out of my funk, so you'll have that to look forward to. The no-longer-little guy has spunk! Pun very much intended.
For now, I'm going to aim for a Sunday release, but that may slip if I can't get the remaining sections completed. I've got a lot of balls in the air in this chapter, and juggling them all is trying even me. If I elect the break the chapter, I'll have to write a proper ending for the first part of it, and then expect the second part to follow about a week later. I've learned from past experience that rapidly releasing new chapters when the first one hasn't had enough chance to be read and digested means lower response and interest on the second.
Depending on decision and progress, there might be one more update before release. In the meantime, since I mentioned Spike, here's the lead-in to his meeting with the CMC:
“You have been blessed, my young friends. For our illustrious new ruler, Dragon Lord Spike, offers you all his love and affection! And for it, he misses you greatly and now respectfully requests you join him at Sugar Cube Corner…” The former Noteworthy pronounced grandly, reciting from a scroll he had materialized out of a puff of dragon-like smoke to the surprise of all.
“Dragon Lord…” Silver Spoon began.
“Spike?” Diamond Tiara finished in some confusion as the original CMC members glanced at each other. “Uh, since when was he lord of anything?”
“Since he imparted to all of us his love and all his gifts! Since he made us all his!” Noteworthy beseeched them all as he sensed their reluctance and skepticism. “Please, my friends, we mean you no harm--far from it, in fact! I understand you three were our blessed lord’s original lovers, so do not deny your destiny at his side!”
“Original lovers?” Diamond Tiara blinked hard.
“You three and Spike?” Silver Spoon realized at the same moment, trying and unable to immediately visualize.
“Guess the cat’s out of the bag--not that it matters any more,” Timberloom admitted with a wistful grin. “Yep, we were. That little dude’s eager, and he could do all three of us at once!”
“All three of you?” Cherilee asked in astonishment. “How?”
“Twin organs, and a tongue that wouldn’t quit! We’d already gone through half the Pony Sutra book with him!” Fireflight added to the envy of the two Kirin girls.
“53.43% of the pages, actually,” Cyber Belle corrected with a grin. “And that doesn’t count the human version of the book.”
“Well, we did say we were gonna meet him later…” Timberbloom admitted. “I guess we could it do it now?”
“Aw… but what about Rumble and Button Mash?” Diamond Tiara pouted. “We were gonna do them next!”
“If you wish, we will bring them to you!” Noteworthy suggested eagerly. “We will bring you whoever you wish! So please, my new friends… do not keep our great and noble lord waiting!”
“Okay. So whaddaya ya’ll say?” Silver Spoon asked, eyeing appreciatively the half-pony, half-dragon forms of Noteworthy and his companions, realizing only at that moment that they all had double drakehoods and wondering how hot her own flame burned compared to their apparent dragonfire. “I mean, he’s your coltfriend!”
“Yeah, he is. So, how about it, girls? Shall we go see him now?” Cyber Belle asked her longtime friends. “Given their forms and the fact that we were aged up, I now calculate a 99.97% chance that Spike has grown as well, and can now satisfy us properly!”
“But would he accept all of us?” Cherilee asked as the same calculation flashed across her own eyes and her sensual subroutines tried to activate automatically for them. “Even those he wasn’t with before?”
Noteworthy grinned broadly, showing two rows of pointed teeth from between which puffed green fire in his excitement. “My friends, he will accept all ponies to join his new harem, especially the friends of his favorites! So come with me now, and all will be revealed...!”
I apologize again for the long wait on this one, but it's proven pretty daunting. But it's on the way, and will hopefully be worth it--there's a couple sequences in here I'm very proud of and hopefully everyone will enjoy greatly. Be looking for at least the first part of it this weekend.
I am looking forward to it and I am patient enough to wait. I also hope Scootaloo can convert Rumble since she is still the only pegasus with phoenix aspects and I strongly suspect she isn't satisfied with that.
