Jinglemess (for The Bricklayer & SPark) · 2:02am Dec 23rd, 2019
I have a Jinglemas gift story for The Bricklayer which I turned in yesterday that I think I need to post immediately or I'll be banned from the competition next year, and I wasn't entirely prepped for that eventuality, so I'll be staying up tonight trying to rush my two entries out.
The other entry is a Jingleclop gift story for SPark, which is my first Porn story. I think I have to put that one up tonight too because I turned it in late (four hours ago) and it hasn't yet been added to the collection yet, so I dunno if it's going up at all if I don't post it myself (and also I don't want to be banned from future events there either). I'm sorry for the delay, SPark, I really am.
I'm usually firmly on the side of support-the-mods and don't-rock-a-well-run-boat, but I'm honestly saddened by the mess. If you didn't know about the existence of the largest author-collaboration event that's been going on annually for like, six or seven years now, I don't understand how you can be an effective moderator for this community. That's some Wilbur Ross level out-of-touch right there. And if you did know about it and you let this happen, well, that's even worse.
That's all I'm going to say on the matter. I'm disappointed, but friendship is more important than these minor missteps. I hope everypony can come together in the spirit of love and put this behind us with immediacy. We can sort out the details later when level heads have a chance to prevail.
And yes, I'm still sick, but finally improving a little.
Glad you're feeling a little better, Trixie.
And you are quite right; friendship can (and should) overcome mistakes and faux pas.
Hope you have a good holiday. Stay warm!
I'm still not entirely sure what happened, but good luck to you and the others having to deal with it.
(Oh, dear, and still? Sorry. Glad you've improved somewhat, at least, and I hope you improve a lot soon.)
The thing that bothers me the most is that one of the moderators was actually taking part in Jinglemas this year. Which makes me suspect there's less agreement amongst them than I'd like
Sorry to hear you're still sick, but props to you for getting two stories out regardless!
Literally what the heck happened @_@

Some of this has to do with changes made in how the site is promoting "contests", and this counts as a "contest" which wanted a site-wide post. So there has been new attention to site rules lately.
Basically, the mods decided right before Hearth's Warming after one collaborative gift anthology was posted, Jingleclop (and just before an enormous anthology was about to be posted, Jinglemas, which we've been doing for years), that now would be a great time to zero-tolerance enforce the ancient part of the TOS that says you can't post any story material that you yourself haven't personally written. So all anthologies containing multiple authors are banned. There was zero warning that this would be a thing.
This also invalidates many very highly-acclaimed and uphooved story collabs and anthologies currently posted on Fimfiction, by the way.
The mods allowed Jingleclop to go back up temporarily, because we're not allowed to make a site-wide post about mature content, but I have no idea how that's going to work next year. Jinglemas 2019 can never be posted, and authors were told if you're late to post your stories you'll be banned from future events (Flutters has since dropped this rule), so a hundred of the best authors on Fimfiction are all racing to post their stories all at the same time (if only to deliver their gift), flooding the main page with stories and ensuring many true gems of stories will be seen by very few readers. Also, not all authors were prepared to post, because all we were required to submit was the text, so there's that.
Needless to say, there are some hard feelings and little explanation or flexibility from tptb.
