    New Story!

Hey, everyone! It’s been a bit, but I had some inspiration strike me a few nights ago and so
I’ve (briefly) made my return to writing with a little story written for the Arboreal Yearnings contest going on at the moment.

A Little Bit About My "Hall of Fame" !

Some of you may have noticed that I have a “Hall of Fame” section on my profile. It’s for my Top 5 favorite stories on the site at the time, and though it’s changed a bit since its inception not too long ago, I thought it would be neat to give everyone a bit of an overview on why I love these stories and why I think you should read them, too! I’ve also gotten the authors of these stories

Dear Faithful Blog: Final Entry (For Now!) · 6:49pm Dec 11th, 2019

And with that, Dear Faithful Student is over. It’s crazy to think that I started writing in early 2018, and that it took almost two years to see to completion.

I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again. I know I’m not the greatest writer on this website, nor is this story free of flaws in the slightest, but this is something I really enjoy doing and I am eternally grateful for the comments and favorites from you all. This was a bit of a ride, for sure, but I thank everyone who enjoyed it and everyone who gave it a chance.

So, after such a long time prioritizing a single story over any other project, I’m finally free (which is a weird feeling). There are two things I’d like to discuss here, and the first one has to do with the story you may or may not have just finished.

What’s next for Dear Faithful Student?

I was really worried about making a story with so many original characters, because believe it or not, I’m not a huge fan of making OC’s a major part of any story like they were in Dear Faithful Student. That all being said, I did love writing these characters, and it seems like you all liked them too, which is a huge relief.

So, if you don’t mind, I’d like to continue writing about them, but not in a traditional way. I was thinking about starting an anthology series that takes place in this universe that would further develop these characters and tell some stories about what they’re up and how their lives correlate to the events of the show.

If you guys want to see that, let me know! And if not, that’s cool, too. I have a few other projects I’m probably going to focus on anyway, and so it might be a bit before I would get to it. I would also likely update at extremely random intervals, but I’m sure you’re all used to that by now.

Also, if you have any questions on the development of Dear Faithful Student – original characters, scrapped plot points, general stuff, etc. – I’ll be happy to answer them!

Speaking of those other projects…

What’s next for me?

While writing a 30-chapter adventure epic with horror undertones was a blast – and probably what I most want to do – I think it might be a while until I do something like this again. I will write one again, though, and when it comes, it’s going to be something I’ll commit to just in the way I did for this.

In the meantime, you’ll probably see a few one-shots and four to five chapter stories here in there (I already have one of the latter planned out that takes place in the Equestria Girls universe, so look out for that one). I think I’ll be able to get some of these ideas out of my head that I haven’t been able to pursue with Dear Faithful Student at the center of attention, and I had a lot of fun writing one-shots like Place and The Last Ride.

What’s immediately next, though? Well, aside from that Equestria Girls story, it’s been almost two years since we checked in on a certain thief and a wise princess… :trixieshiftright:

Thanks, for everything, y’all, and thank you for following this one every step of the way. Your comments and interaction are some of my favorite things about writing on this site, and I’m happy I can write stuff that you guys are able to enjoy.

A sort of anthology/sequel on the Faithful Student continuity would be great!

:yay:

Came here to see if you still cared at all about Thief and a Princess. Nice to see you going back to it.

Congrats on wrapping it up! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

And yes indeed I would love a follow-up anthology series! I quite like these OCs and would like to see more of them, plus there are some nagging questions (most obviously what happened to Melody after the fight) that could be explored.

I'd also like to see flashbacks in that anthology. When they were alive the first time, and all.

Hot damn! A sequel to a long spanning chair gripping story?! I’m in!

I'd like to see Melody recieving a letter from Celestia that's understanding and supportive, asks her to accept that she decided not to succeed, and tells her she'd be forgiven and Celestia would be the mother she needed if she would be willing to return.

Melody would break.
