Plot Bunny Theater: Mare-sure for Mare-sure · 7:31pm Nov 24th, 2019
Based on an idea by my friend Fusion Blaster, a concept for a romantic comedy starring Applejack:
Filthy and Spoiled Rich had a stallion a few years before having Diamond Tiara. They named him Just Plain Rich, or JP for short. The same age as the Main 6, he was a classmate of Applejack's and a foalhood friend/rival, as Filthy Rich had aspirations to marry the two families and to make JP a more down to Earth pony. However, Spoiled Rich interfered and yanked JP out of school: On Hearts and Hooves Day no less, when he was trying to give a valentine to Applejack to make up for some hurtful things he'd said to her. Applejack's life continued the same, though with some regret over what happened with JP.
After graduating from a private school, JP had had enough of his domineering mother and joined the Royal military to get out from under her hoof. Spoiled subsequently tried to disown him, though Filthy was able to talk her down.
Years later, after the defeat of Nightmare Moon, Celestia decides to assign a few Royal Guards to Ponyville under cover, as additional support for the Elements of Harmony. JP Rich is chosen, and he is naturally assigned to Applejack. His cover? Become a day laborer at Sweet Apple Acres and try to avoid his family.
Between the conflicts of his duty, his family, and his attraction to a certain mare with her own conflicts and issues with family, can a happy ending somehow appear out of this?
Cliche? Probably. But in the right hands? It could be a lot of fun.
Ah, I thought based on the title it would be a ponified version of Measure for Measure, which my school recently put on.

I liked the pun. It could of course become that. How would you put such a comedy together based on the situation?

Well, off the top of my head...
Celestia(The Duke) realizes she has to implement the "No sex before marriage" law, but to avoid drama, she goes on"vacation" and leaves Blueblood(Angelo) in charge. She then returns under magical disguise to observe.
The parts of Claudio and Juliet could be played by... eh, we'll say Big Mac and Sugar Belle. That way, when Mac is imprisoned for impregnating Sugar Belle, Applejack could serve as Isabella and plead to Blueblood for Mac's life. Blueblood then falls for AJ, and demands her virginity in exchange for Mac's life.
As for the other main characters:
Lucio: Rainbow Dash
Escalus: Twilight Sparkle
Mariana: Rarity
Mistress Overdone: Cherry Jubilee
Pompey: Braeburn
Sounds like it would be a great story. Of course, you'd probably need to have some kind of sub-plot where JP tries to reach out to Diamond Tiara. I can't imagine Applejack really falling for anyone who's abandoned their family completely.

Naturally! She might even be thrilled to learn she has an older brother. JP just wouldn't be sure how to connect with her.
I figure she would know who he is just not that he's back in town and has a serous case ofhero worship of him.
Do it
