Okay, so I suppose I should do a few explanations for those of you who still care, and don't want to wring my neck.
First things first, to the uninformed. I don't like hugboxes, okay? Like, I really don't. It's just not my thing. Problem is, well... over the past month and a half or so, I'd felt my long-time server, the Prancing Pony had become one. Like, people were more interested in booping each other back and forth than actually listening to any real conversation.
Lemme give you an example okay, I'd posted a video on why the Bloody Mary illusion works as well as it does, fascinating stuff right? At least I thought so, given it involves some interesting psychology on a disconnect between your brain and your eyes. Maybe it's just me, and I'm just weird that way, but... I like that sorta stuff. Youtube Mythbusters, basically.
But what I got as a response was someone -not naming names- booping another person and this had been going on for a while now, several others following suit with snugs and cuddles and the like. Ugh. I wanted to share some really fun stuff, and talk with my friends and shoot the shit.
But you know what, I'd realized something about halfway through this. It felt like work, actual honest to god work to make people talk and do more than just lurk around and 'cuddle' in mini RPs. It wasn't fun at all, it wasn't what I'd had in mind for my server when I made it two long years ago. Oh goodness me, this is turning into a rant, isn't it?
You ever have one of those ideas you think that's really good at the time and come to regret it later? ...yeeeeeeeeeah, I more or less nuked the server and placed it in the hands of one of those peoples who summed up everything wrong with it. Needless to say, I got a few people pissy with me. May have slashed a few friendships.
If I did tick you off, I'm sorry, but I did what I had to do. Managing the server felt. like, work. It wasn't fun, it wasn't something I enjoyed doing. I needed an 'out'. And actually... you know what? I feel better than I have in weeks, thanks to this. No drama for me to worry about, nothing of the kind. Maybe I'll start a new server, one that thrives on a conversation -which is the whole point of Discord anyways- or two where I can have good old fashioned debates and maybe I'll invite you to it. Who knows. Right now? I just feel free as a bird.
Well dude, I wouldn't mind about you delete about the Roleplays stuff... But it was necessary to delete all the offices of the users over there? Some use the offices of back up archives and pictures...

Okay, yes, I admit that was going too far, but two things. One, admittidly, I think of people storing these things on Google Docs -like, it's common sense isn't it- and two, I was just so damn done with it all.

I mean archives, stories usually goes on the Docs, but I mean when it comes about url links, photos, pictures, downloading stuffs. People usually holds that information like a diary over there... And even you were done about that, couldn't at least give a warning about. Hey I'm going to delete all the offices, take your kinds of stuff while still have time?

I mean, was it a situation where setting up another channel would have been a viable option? Would setting up a RP channel and make an announcement saying "I'm designating a place for the following activities" have helped?

Unfortunately many people want to be in those safe places and echo chambers because the real world is censored insane. We do not talk to anyone who doesn't share our point of view we do trial by media. We allow millionaires and billionaires plus people we pay entertain us to preach to us about income equality. Our world is mad. I look at the world and pray I never suddenly develop superpowers because I would fix things and damn the global consequences.

That was tried once with a general RP channel, and it didn't work. See, a lot of these people just wanted safe spaces and at times, a sense of stability while the world changed around them. The sad thing is, people want these echo chambers because of how insane the real world actually is.
Look, I get that, I do, wanting a sense of stability or a place to escape to. But we have to grow up sometime. Let me put it this way, okay? I had four moderators, and one of them dabbles in psychology. When none of them could talk sense into these people, you know how bad it is.

Have we really changed? You can be attacked for being a CIS white male just for disagreeing with some things. We are a divided even more then ever before. Are we better, yes and no. Politically our government, the USA, is corrupt top to bottom across all three branches. Our media seems to put out only what they want to and spin or misrepresent what they do tell. I do my best to stay off major internet services and am glad I do not have a Twitter account.

I take any news of being a 'cis white male' with a grain of salt, given that most of these reports come from 'skeptic youtubers' who are more likely to report this stuff for clicks and views than anything else, and when the next moral outrage comes along they'll move onto that.
Think about it, are you likely to be attacked in the street for being black today? The answer would be no. Go back to the 20s, and then tell me that. It may not seem like it at times, but our world HAS changed for the better.
