Techie's SPICY Smokin' Toasted Self-Roasted Reviews #6: [Screw Time!!!] & [Screw Space!!!] + the blogpost finale! · 12:29am Oct 4th, 2019
Yup. We're knocking out an entire series this time 'round.
Starting on Screw Time, this is actually quite possibly the first comedy that I ever wrote on this site. I didn't start using What If as a dumpster for funnies until quite a bit later, and in the meantime I wanted to experiment with some other stuff.
Story opens up in first-person, centering around Screwball.
And just like that, a fresh potato popped out from my dad's ear, baking itself evenly as it began flying away to who-knows-where. After gawking at the sight for a few seconds --I had never seen that happen before-- I turned back to dad. "So, where are we anyways?" I asked.
Yeah, there are a lot of potato jokes scattered throughout the series, given how it was building on top of stuff introduced in Bootsy Slickmane's story, Tirek and the Tuber.
Dad took one last heap of pop-tato and shoveled it into his mouth. "Why not potato?"
Case and point.
The second chapter is literally nothing but potatoes. It adds nothing and the potato jokes were growing old already.
The next iteration in the series is pretty much just the world imploding from potato. Also, looking back on the series, I really don't think that the way I wrote Screwball as a character even remotely works. The way she speaks in the stories just feels too forced, and almost formal at times. But oh well.
Last stop: Blogpost.
It's literally a tie-in to Bootsy Slickmane's story, and nothing else.
Alright, review done.
Honestly, this particular review just felt empty and dead inside. Don't worry, I'm fine myself. Just commenting about how dry the review of an old one-shot series is.
Well I suppose as you go through the stories you are going to have less things to review in them both because of getting better at writing and because you tend write a lot of one shots nowadays... now will you excuse me, I'm going to read a fiction about Screwball due to a new chapter being out
