Thank you readers! + Chapter 21 · 5:20pm Sep 22nd, 2019

I'd like to extend all of the thanks in the world to each one of my readers and those who checked out my story. At the time of this writing, I have almost 700 views for the story, and almost 6000 total views across all chapters. My most recent chapter, 21, Of Friendships Entwined, is one of the fastest growing chapters I've put out since the story's launch, already at over 100 unique views, with the next tier at 180. Not only that, this publishing period has been the most active weekend I have had, ever. Friday night with chapter 21's publishing had 151 total views across all chapters, and Saturday had me at 231, the highest individual date ever.

I really am speechless. I'm not trying to sound like I am bragging about these numbers or anything, and compared to some other big name writers, this may not be much of an accomplishment, but this is a huge deal to me, and I cannot thank each and every one of you enough for your support. Fame and recognition was never my intent; it was merely to share a story that I wanted to share, while also producing a story that I myself would be able to come back to one day and read it cover-to-cover.

100.

100 is the number of people that my friend, Ladholyman, wanted to hit for our fansub metrics back in 2008-2014. We wanted to make sure at least 100 people downloaded each episode to justify our energy and work put into it. Our flagship series, Ojamajo Doremi easily hit that target well into the thousands, and when we started doing PreCure for a few years, we smashed those numbers completely.

100 was also the same number I set out for with Crepuscularity of an Alicorn. When I started writing Magisight and I knew it was going to be a "long fic" as I call them, I upped that goal to 200. If I could get 200 people to check my story out, I would be satisfied. As you can see from above, we are well above and beyond that count.

Once again, thank you, all of you. It means the world to me that you are enjoying this story, and I have read some absolutely amazing and phenomenal comments. I hope you continue to enjoy Magisight.

Now, onto chapter 21! Who saw THAT coming? That final batch of paragraphs leading up to and culminating in the Sonic Rainboom was among the most challenging I've ever had to write for this story. We all know what it looks like, and we've seen a glorious rendition of it from the MLP Movie, but how does it work? What "drives" the Rainboom? These were the questions on the forefront while writing this chapter.

Pretty early on I wanted Twilight to awaken the beginning of her "pegasus sight" as the result of a Wonderbolts show. The very first conception of the scene took place at night, with Twilight seated with Celestia and Luna. Initially, I hadn't incorporated the Sonic Rainboom, but as I was playing the scene out in my head, I realized "wait a second, this is at night, how the heck is anypony else gonna see wtf is going on lol" so I looked at the event from a different angle. I needed a good way to "hook" Twilight into going to it, since I thought having the scene with the Princesses wouldn't have worked (don't worry, I haven't forgotten about them, either!). So I thought about having the majority of the chapter be a "cooldown" chapter, where the stakes aren't quite as high and Twilight can just be with her friends. Friendship is magic, after all! And what better way to work her friends into the story, ending with the very thing that brought them together!

I'm still considering making Burger Princess into a more fleshed out one-shot comedy/slice of life story. Unrelated to the Magisight series, but just a short little silly fun thing. I haven't had time to really sit down and do it, but I decided to take ideas from it and shove it into Magisight because why not? I think it worked out quite well!

May the stars shine until the end of your journey!

So... about four years ago, I made a hard and fast rule: I wouldn't start reading any more fics unless they were finished. Do you know how hard you've made it on me to keep that resolution? Just the concepts of Magisight make me grin in happiness, and the few comments I've peeked at lead me to believe you're making very good use of them. I don't know how much more is to come, but I'm really looking forward to being able to dive in!

Thank you! That means a lot to hear since it was The Celestia Code that jumpstarted my interest in both reading and writing fanfiction. And believe me, I completely understand your rule! I'm pretty fussy when it comes to what I read as well (no grimdark/violence for example), and having only limited hours in the day after work makes it tough as well. I may be a bit newer to fanfiction than a lot of the others here on this site, but I've always been aware of the sheer volume of stories, and I've frequently heard of people lamenting about a story going unfinished or neglected for years and years.

That's mainly why I frequently make blog posts after most of my chapters. I like to give readers a bit of insight into my passion and motivation. It's a sort of signal of "Hey this isn't going away unless a dire IRL emergency happens." The fact that I have the entire story drafted out helps as well. Finally settling on a fortnightly schedule has also helped immensely.

But yes, I'm incredibly flattered that my story is tempting you that badly! Unfortunately, my draft currently sits at 36 chapters. Five or six of them are super short (1000-1500 words each; this is intentional due to their content) so it's likely I'll put those up two or three at a time. But even with that in mind, I'm spitballing it'll be sometime in January or February when it's all said and done. Sorry for such a long wait, but I do hope it'll be worth it!

And, unfortunately, many of those were really good stories!

I'm very glad to hear that you've got it all planned out! That's very encouraging even though it means I'll have to wait months to read it!
