It's not getting from A to B. It's not the beginning or the destination that counts. It's the ride in between that matters

    Update on the story

Note: this is NOT an april fools, just a poorly times spur of the moment update on my part

Yeah, it's been a while, writers block got in the way, then life kept me away. I don't want to give up on the story as I have enough scraps of ideas for at least another book after this (not that this one is close to finishing).

for those wondering what the folks of the matoran universe, etc. have been getting up to all this time

here's a little regional map I managed to churn out today

if Equestria is north of the equator, these guys are situated firmly towards the ass-end of Terra, which means from their perspective the sun and moon have been acting extremely fucky and no one knows why

    world building: Units of measurement

I've never been too keen on using the foot as the standard unit of measurement in Equestria, that sent me on a tangent to "standardise" some equestrian units of length, the results of which you see below, and can expect to see me use within the universe from now on.

the phrase "used in place of" should be taken to mean informally

An equine species devoid of magic. Though sapient and just as intelligent as any other species of pony, they don't have any society as such, instead they wander the southern continent in large herds across thousands of miles following the changing seasons, they are however known to own the occasional keepsake, such as bands, chains, necklaces or earrings.

because of the climate on the southern continent ranging between arid and tropical, they grow little fur, merely around the fetlocks on females and around the fetlocks & chest on males

Tatzles have a peculiar form of sexual dimorphism, and a gender class to some degree based on natural abilities. the males are larger with more eyes and typically keep watch during the day, whilst the females see entirely in infrared, and will act as lookouts at night. As such they don't have any particularly vibrant colorations, instead relying on the infinitely unique tribal-like markings running across their skin for identification.

those red markings you see on the male are actually strings of blood vessels just below the skin, and show up as thermal hot spots to the females.

Nice concept, so will be there some lore behind this race, possibly tying into Equestria or just other parts as well?

Thought I'd start over and elaborate further (I was at work so I only glanced over the comment without letting it sink in before replying)

This species doesn't really have much room for any lore per se, since the race as a whole is migratory they don't have any settlements, meaning they don't have any real cultural history

if you've seen Disney's dinosaur that should give you a gist of their lifestyle, and the type of enviroment they live in
