Update on the story · 4:49pm Apr 1st, 2022
Note: this is NOT an april fools, just a poorly times spur of the moment update on my part
Yeah, it's been a while, writers block got in the way, then life kept me away. I don't want to give up on the story as I have enough scraps of ideas for at least another book after this (not that this one is close to finishing).
Well, writer's block isn't entirely accurate, if I get ideas for future scenes I'll write out drafts to keep the creative juices flowing as well as better refine & build an overarching plot, and my "future scenes" doc has some 27k words worth of material to be incorporated.
So this horse isn't dead quite yet, the challenge is finding a way to link it all together into a coherent story.
The short of it is I wrote myself into a corner with the "morning after" portion of the most recent chapter. I'm simply not a good enough writer period to be able to work out a whole chapter following on from it, so I've struck it off, 2600-ish words of dead-end filler are now gone. Ret-conned. NOT. FUCKING. CANON.
I don't always have a coherent plan for the story, who knew?
I did set the whole culled section aside for future re-use, though, because I do have ideas to take it forward, just not at this exact point in the story.
what is now the next chapter already stands at about 2300 words, but I want to get it closer to 3k+ before publishing, which should hopefully (and I'm stressing hopefully) be up in the next couple of days.
As a little hint, shit's gonna get explosive.
