I lost an entire night's sleep, my immune system took a long sabbatical, and my feels are feeling.
But I finished Background Pony.
I don't have any words. I just... I can't. I don't even know what to feel. It wasn't what I expected at all. Not at all.
Anybody have any thoughts? Have you read it? Help me understand. OR, perhaps, we can help each other try and understand. NO SPOILERS. I know Razed isn't done and some of my other followers may not be. Talk about impression without incidents or plot-- I know you can. :)
I'll be working on Raridash today. May finish it. Who knows? I don't.
If you can't tell, BP has left me a bit shell shocked. When you read a book marathon 1-2 sittings, it has way more impact on you. I read all of Slaughter House Five in one sitting and let me tell you that when I say that books have more power that way, I'm not even close to describing it.
By the way, I'd like you all to know that my second most viewed story on here is now "Twilight Likes Weird Things". I am considering throwing all my convictions about the sanctity and beauty of literature out the window and writing cheap joke fics and porn forever. I mean this in the happiest way possible. :3

I really like that pairing. I just like the idea of personalities like that coming together. I'd write it outside of ponies (I may write it out of ponies.)
Raridash in a lot of ways made me reexamine a relationship in some of my original fiction! The juxtaposition of opposites that aren't QUITE as opposite as they appear

Because this has gotten seriously off topic from Background Pony I shall attempt to salvage it.
Reading that story felt like it should be required reading in college. It has everything you could ever want in a story. I've read more fun stories, but never ones that had such.....I don't even know how to describe it. I guess impact is the closest I can come. It certainly feels like my world has been shaken...
Also, I will never read purple text the same way again.
I want to really talk about the entire story with you, it's frickin killing me that I can't discuss the single most....something, adjectives fail me....story I've ever read.

I'm still not sure about the ending. I'm not sure about what it really... means, you know? What it has to say about the rest. Do we negate the lessons imparted by how the fiction meets it's fate?

I'm not sure. Like... the very, very, bitterest end does seem to suggest a triumph, but the rest of that chapter seems to suggest exactly the opposite to me (she has almost no identity. No idea who she is, her style of writing has lost all of it's unique beauty, etc.) I will agree that it's a proper ending--good or bad it is satisfying and final. Without music, and without memory, and without.... I'm not totally sold on her having any identity until that last final moment of twilight.
