Interview with JackRipper

“Alright, now tell me, my dear friend, what inspired your username?
Response: It was a name thought up for me by my dad when I was, like, eight or nine. It was just supposed to be a cool username for Xbox Live. In hindsight, it’s about as edgy as edgy can get, but it stuck. It obviously derives from the infamous Jack the Ripper in 1888 London, but it’s a semi-clever play-on-words with my actual name. You get the gist.
“What drew you into Mlp?
Response: I watched MLP when I was younger and sadder. It made me feel less sad. Watching it now still cheers me up to some degree (unfortunately, though, I do not feel any younger).
“Who is your favorite pony and why?
Response: Fluttershy. She reminds me a lot of myself, or at least, who I used to be before I tore myself out of my shell and never looked back. Her personal growth is kind of a reflection of mine, so I see myself in her.
“Favorite episode and why?”
Response: “The Mane Attraction” from Season 5. I adore Coloratura, and hearing her sing like that just blew me away (and apart from the songs from the movie, I personally don’t like MLP songs that much). The plot was clean and concise and everything was perfectly paced, which made for a perfectly impactful episode. I’d say a close second would be “The Perfect Pear” for me.
“What inspires you to write?”
Response: This might also explain why I don’t always write very often: simply put, it’s a stress reliever. I do it to unwind and calm down. A big reason why you notice a spike in activity in my early years is because I was stressed and moody. That’s why I wrote a whole lot of dark and morose content. Nowadays, I prefer writing comedy. Even though my favorite genre is horror, writing that stuff for me has always left a bad taste in my mouth because I have to immerse myself in the feeling to make the story better, and no one likes feeling horrified.
Maybe a thriller is the better alternative?
“Tell us about your favorite story, and why it inspires you to write. It doesn't have to be mlp specifically!”
Response: My favorite book would probably be either “The Martian” by Andy Weir, or the series “The Maze Runner” by James Dashner. Neither really inspire me to write to be honest, but my favorite MLP fanfic that does is “Hard Reset” by Eakin. I’ve always wanted to do a story that properly utilizes the concept of looping but I’ve always been reluctant to try. Though, if I ever published my own book, this theme would be the primary focus of the novel.
“Give us the background of the author! Tell us all about you. Well in a short summary.
Response:
Hi. I’m Jack. I’m 20 and I live in Florida. I’m studying to become an aerospace engineer and I like space, and I’m trying to love math too (but it’s tough love, like marital abuse kind of tough). I play video games and read for fun. I guess that’s about it?
“With Mlp coming to an end, tell us one thing you have learned from your experiences, and how it has helped you to grow?
Response:
I’ve stopped caring about what people think of me. I speak how I feel and I don’t cater to other peoples’ wants or beliefs anymore. It might make me sound shallow, but it keeps me honest to myself and to others. The ones that appreciate who I am are the only people worth keeping around anyway.
“Is there anything else you'd like to say?
Response: To add to the previous answer, my patience has gotten better too, but I do get tired of being a constant medium for drama. Sometimes I feel like a group therapist, but at least I’m not usually the one involved!
