I swear, that title makes me think of Tony the Tiger.
So, before I saw this episode, I was a little hesitant on seeing it because a lot of people were complaining about it. I was wondering whether those 22 minutes could be better spent watching an episode of a different show, drawing, writing, etc. But, I have a goal to see every episode of Friendship is Magic, so I had to take a breath and dive in.
And it was uncomfortable to watch.
Celestia's shout was funny. And the routine at the end was kind of neat. Other than that, I was not only cringing the whole time from Dash's attitude and the utter frustrated confusion and clumsy routines from the cheer squad, but from the moment that Twilight assigned RD to the cheer squad, I immediately smelled a forced friendship lesson as her motivation, though I wasn't sure what she was meaning to teach yet.
So... I get that sometimes you gotta do something you don't care about for someone you care about who enjoys it... but the way they were pushing this message is so forced, like, Twilight, honey, PEOPLE HIRE PEOPLE WHO ARE QUALIFIED FOR CERTAIN JOBS TO DO THOSE JOBS FOR A REASON. It's like hiring me to be an accountant, something I have no interest in being and really don't know much about being, so that I could learn math. Not to mention that it could have easily went terribly wrong, Twilight was lucky Dash even learned the intended lesson. Gah, her plan was so stupid, people were complaining when Celestia did it, did the writers think it was okay to have Twilight do it?
And is it weird that even though I've never been a cheerleader, I was kind of offended for them whenever Dash dismissed them?
So, uh, yeah, I can see why people didn't like this one. Just a big, fat, groan all around.
Holding the r makes me think of Tony the Tiger. This just made me think of Office Space. Which is appropriate given the horrible management for most of the episode.
The entire ending made me cringe tons.
