New Cover Art for "From Far Beyond" · 1:32am Jul 8th, 2019
I've replaced the original cover art for From Far Beyond with a newer version that I created. I've had the basic idea for this design for a while now, and I'm glad that I've finally been able to make it.
And, of course, if you have not yet had the chance to check this story out, I encourage you to do so.
Seriously, I like to see people's comments. It keeps me motivated and it gives me feedback that I can work with.
How do you designed that cover art?

The background image is composed of a picture of New York City at night, and a picture of (obviously) Canterlot.
The pony image is the vector I made of my OC/Ponysona Jade Dawn, rendered in black.
The human–which is supposed to be Eric Colby, the story's protagonist who gets turned into a pony and takes on the Jade Dawn name–is actually a snapshot of Peter Parker from Disney XD's Marvel's Spider-Man. I chose him because he actually bears a startling resemblance to what I look like in real life, and considering Eric is supposed to be based off of me, I thought the look worked.
The ray of light down the middle is actually a vector of a lightsaber blade. I just simply stretched the image until the hilt of the saber was out of frame.
I did all of this in a photo editing program called Gimp. Took me about 15 minutes, tops.
