This is the most excited I've been for something in a while.
Scootertrix, the best of all the Abridged series' this fandom has shilled out by a fair margin, is making a movie. It's actually going to be made. The little story that started out about comically mocking little horses that eventually turned into am epic unique story with custom animation... is going to reach its climax.
"Isn't this a little excited to get about an Abridged Series?" No. No, it is not. Scootertrix may be funny, but it's so much more than that. It has characters, heart, arcs, tense situations, actual moments where drama is played seriously, plot twists... and I've been following it for yeeeeears.
I have watched and read a lot of things in this fandom. I have cried through many a fanfic, I've read masterpieces of literature, animations that made my jaw drop, skits that made me laugh, and books that made me change my perception of the world. Lullaby for a Princess. The Enchanted Kingdom. Project Horizons. The Sweetie Chronicles. Ultra Fast Pony. Snowdrop.
Scootertrix has affected me more than any of those things. Sure, UFP is often funnier, and many of the fics regularly do drama better... but this story... well let's just say that it left me on a cliffhanger and I've basically been on PANIC PANIC PANIC mode since the last episode which was... what, almost a year ago? AUGH!
You should go watch it. It starts out like any standard abridged series: fun, comedic, sticks to the episodes a lot with only the slightest hint of something going on in the background. Then the plot kicks in full force, we can forget what the original episodes had intended because footage from several seasons gets tossed around, animations get included, the fourth wall breaks down in a not-so-funny way... It's great, is all. And we should all be glad it's getting to where it needs to, unlike so many abandoned fandom projects.
Those who read Songs of the Spheres will recognize the world, for it is the source of Squeaky Belle, Trollestia, Scooter Pie, Twix, and was one of the main parts of The Comedians chapter. I highly recommend giving it a watch.

Honestly, the only abridged series I ever watched was the mentally advanced series until the creator's growing cynicism towards the show killed it.

Scootertris > UFP > MA > FiW
You are VERY correct that MA's main problem was the immense cynicism. In everything. All the time. It's only up above FiW because it's side-project, Rainbow Dash Presents, is actually really good and parodies fanfics.

One thing I really liked about MA was how each episode showed how his animation kept improving (when he made the switch) which was really fascinating to watch over time.

Been watching a few today, and Celestia really reminds me of The Monarch from Venture Bros. Really enjoying it so far, great recommendation!

You should go watch it, like right now, immediately, and tell anyone who hasn't seen it that they should watch it too, because this is the very best MLP abridged series and it is criminally underrated and underappreciated in this fandom.

I've tried vainly to explain to people just what they're missing out on with this series, and it still makes me sore that Scootertrix isn't well-known or widely-celebrated in the fandom. Because this is easily one of the best-written, best-produced MLP fanworks out there. I mean, it is literally a TV show - just one that happens to be on YouTube and tell its story via remixed assets from My Little Pony. I would happily put it on my DVD shelf, if it was on DVD and I had a shelf.
