    Happy New Years

    2023 was way too long.

My goal this year is to find a new job. Try and write more than one new chapter of Feather Steel and to hopefully publish this new story of mine which popped into my head and won't leave. Already written 20,000 words. :twilightsheepish:

As for my other unfinished works, we'll see. :facehoof:

    The Curse is Broken

So, yeah, finally a new chapter is here.

What can I say other than time goes by fast and you never realize how much you lose until it's lost. Five years :fluttershysad:

The Difficulty of Continuing a Story

Why is it so difficult to do this sometimes? I feel like it's much, much easier to come up with a new story and write it out. But Celestia help you if you stop and want to continue later. :facehoof:

    A Rushed Job

I'm Back from TrotCon which was fun, though I feel they planned poorly for how large the venue was vs how many people were there (last time it was in a smaller hotel and felt cozy).

Couldn't Leave Well Enough Alone... (Spoilers for the Show) · 7:40pm Jun 15th, 2019

The Last Crusade...

...Okay, okay. I suppose, in the long run, I'm not all that angry at the show's creators or anyone else who seems to enjoy this. I don't want to come off as this salty fanboy who's upset at every little change, but I still can't help ask the question: "Did this need to be shown?"

I'm reminded of this scene from a popular YouTube channel:

I guess embedded content cannot do time stamps, so skip to 8:05

Jokes aside, I feel like anyone who makes movies or TV Shows could learn a thing or two from those people. Do we need to know every single detail of all of our favorite characters? If everything about them was spoonfed to us, would we even care about writing Fanfiction in the first place? Probably not as much as we do now. And while I will ultimately get over this and move on (and will never stop writing my headcanons because they're what makes the fandom fun for me :trixieshiftleft:), I still feel like this just wasn't needed.

And while it never defined her character, I always felt having our little headcanons about Scootaloo always gave her a hint of mystery and, ultimately, it's what got me into the fandom in the first place. And what excited me so much about writing. So, no matter what I'll always see that little filly as the little character with a big mysterious backstory. Something that we fanfic writers would fill in the blanks to.

Ever since Griffin-stone I've developed a vague suspicion that at least one person on the writing team get's a kick out of dismantling popular Head-cannons.

I'm sure they do. :facehoof:

You both do realize that headcanons are not canon at all, right? And it's not the showwriters' fault that your precious headcanons are not in the show. I don't care what you both say, people like you are the reason I left this site for awhile

I didn't, um, mean anything hostile about my post. Relax.

None of what we write is canon and that's not the point of making fanfiction. Just thought I'd bring the topic up.

Ok, sorry. I'm just way too used to the fandom throwing a tantrum the second a headcanon is dismissed by canon. I don't mind if it's done as a joke (like Silver Quill's castle in his Uprooted Review).

No, I'm not Chris Chan lmao. I'm upset and it hurts a bit, but I suppose it does remind me just how special Scootaloo is to me and this fandom. Not gonna throw a fit. ^^

I'm actually very glad that this episode killed the Scootabuse train. Since we now know her parents love her very much, and they just don't get to see her very often due to their line of work.

Yes, that is nice. And there is always AU.

I had always wondered how, or if, we'd get a canon-based answer to the Scootaloo question. However, at the same time, she still is technically very ignored and basically an orphan.

I'll be able to see the episode tomorrow, as I view through iTunes for accessibility, but it sounds like a lot gets stuffed in this 22 minute episode. Sure you have 'some' hints through "The Ponyville Mysteries" books but not quite enough to really show much of a family-life for Scootaloo.

Given how, if I recall as I couldn't help but look up some details, Scoots' parents actually show up for the first time in years almost makes you wonder if there is a Foal & Youth Services that needs called in. So many major accomplishments in Scoots' life were missed by her parents and even Aunt Holiday and Auntio Lofty. The most notable getting her Cutie Mark.

I will eagerly look forward to seeing this episode. Though, if this is what we get for a show-canon, I hope more is shown in the latter half of the season. Showing up once doesn't really count as, well, Scoots really could've used a lot of support for a long time and absentee parents don't quite make for a good response. That's at least my opinion.

You sound like a salty fanboy.

You sound like a bogan. :pinkiecrazy:

I liked my little headcannons around her. Eh
