Good Morning everyone,
For certain definitions of the term, I suppose.
This is just an update letting you all know it's coming. The finale is seriously coming. Specifically, It's coming next week, and this actually brings me to the crux of this post which is that I want to ask you all a question regarding the posting of the story. See, I could, if I wanted to, post all of it all at once. The finale consists of three chapters, which are more-or-less already finished barring final edits and touch-ups. However, I also am aware that the chapters I write are monstrously long by most people's standards, and these are in the 15k word range, as is per usual for Featherfall chapters.
So my question to all of you is this: Do you want me to post them all at once, or stagger out the posts over the course of a week? Obviously, either way is fine with me, I'd just like your opinion on it, so go ahead and leave it in the comments section below.
Secondly, you might've noticed the tag: New Story.
Right, well... given that I actually really enjoyed writing Rules of Engagement, I figured why not continue in that universe? So I'm writing another story in that same setting, set around the same cast and location: The Last Note Lounge. Only this time it's the leader of the Dazzlings getting some love, and fans of Featherfall might already be able to guess the pairing.
Are there are any OctaviAdagio fics out there? Well, there will be now. So once I'm done with Featherfall I'll begin posting my new story, and to tide you over, here's the descriptions:
Octavia Melody is one of the most talented young concert musicians in Canterlot and she owes it all to the woman who taught her as a child, a mysterious woman named Serenata.
For years Octavia kept her eyes open for any sign of the woman to whom she owed so much, but she never caught wind of her, despite all of her efforts. But when a moment of fate gives Octavia a glimpse of the owners of the lucrative and premier Last Note Lounge, she is stunned by the resemblance between the Lounge's manager and her old teacher.
Especially since that manager is Adagio Dazzle.

Only thing about this kind of decision is really down to how you break them up. If it's just a big chapter split into three without each leading properly into each other, it might take some out of the experience, but if you planned it in three parts, waiting between each might build up more anticipation.

So the finale takes place over the course of a single morning/afternoon, the day of the Friendship Games, which sort of makes it one long chapter but it has all the proper breaks and lead-ins between them. That's sort of where I am when I'm asking myself if I really want to post almost 45k words in a single day even if they are broken into chapters.

Honestly I'd say post all 3 and let the readers pace themselves. If it's one big scene anyway then it's best to put it out all at once.
I can't speak for others but I'll probably read over them multiple times anyway just to absorb the full impact of the finale and having it all there at one time is beneficial to that.
Post the 3 part finale once per week, cuz I'm not emotionally ready!
...Hm. I think I'd prefer them all at once, so I could more easily set my own pace through them and have more information and freedom for planning reading, particular given the significant extra time and attention demands from the level of error spotting I usually do for the story. Nothing stopping me from staggering them for myself if need be if they come out all at once, but I can't shift things the other way. :)

Though from the description, I'm curious: she presumably knows of Adagio Dazzle from the incident in Rainbow Rocks, but why would she not have recognized her as Serenata then, then? Just the context being too different?
