Sombra Lives! New direction for stories and things to come. · 9:44pm Mar 30th, 2019
A.k.a, me apologizing again for the massive delay in scheduling and not keeping my word.
Hi everyone. I hope things are going good as I update on the state of my writing process as, as you've noticed, I have yet to meet a single deadline I've given myself. And unfortunately, I'm preparing for a trip away from home for a week so I'm not going to have much opportunity to get more writing done. So instead, I feel a lot more confident and wise enough to lay out where things will be as well as explain what's the hold up.
The State of "Throes of Winter"
So this has been a long time coming as this fit was starting during the whole Fall of Equestria phase that has from what I can see died out. This was also around the time King Sombra was only getting lore and character through comics and I had reasonable space to flesh out more character and charisma. I was also beginning to fade away from the fandom and show as I wasn't interested or liked the directions they were going in ever since Starlight Glimmer became a cast member (for other reasons outside of her character, I actually don't dislike her that much.) So naturally, I thought it would be safe to post my little fetish fic with more story elements...
... And then Season 9 was announced to be the finale of the show. And then it was announced King Sombra was coming back.
So now my interest has pecked up understandably as, as you know, King Sombra was my favourite character and has so much potential for stories. So now I'm excited to see what they'll do with him for this season's opening... Which means I'll be adapting up how I'm writing him so that he'll stay true to his character with the elements I can mess around with.
So... What does this mean for ToW?
To be honest, I've become very disinterested with the fic in that I was constantly figuring out where I want the story to go, should I focus on the battle, the lore, the sex just because I like writing dirty words and what not. I wasn't really sure if including an original character like Ewe was a good decision because OC's are a tricky thing to write without inserting your own personality into it. However, the compliments I get and interest was beyond what I expect and I didn't want to just give up on something people were liking. So i've decided this;
Thores of Winter will have the current chapter I'm working on [still deciding if I want to include the Pinkie Smut] and then after the Ponyville Winter Parade chapter, I will leave it up to the audience based on how I end that chapter. If they want more, I will put on the hiatus tag for once and wait for the time to properly give the conclusion that feels right for the years put into this fic. If you're satisfied, I'll complete the story and move on. Which bring me to my next topic;
New Direction [Trying to gear away from edgy, misognistic smut]
So I posted "Knight's Undoing" a few weeks ago and from what I saw... It's mixed. I get a lot of likes and adds from it, but little comments about if people like it, if it sucks or it's just not there thing. And to be fair, I can understand as I'm not even sure I like the story. I've had this idea of Sombra cuckolding Shining in some way and wanted to go into it. But as I look back, I'm not really sure this is the way I want to do that. So I'm also leaving this up to you guys. Do you want to see more of the fic that's planned? Or should I scrap it and turn it to something better? Let me know what you think.
As for this new direction I keep bring up, while I am going to have Sombra focused on in this new vision [it'll be about a crackship I've been liking; feel free to guess whose the lucky mare~], it'll be one shots as I think adding chapters only adds more pressure and more time. I'm fairly new to this and still learning my groove, so I think it'll be easier to do that.
So that's where I'm at right now. The next chapter for ToW will be coming soon (Can't name dates at this time as it'll be a while til I'm back in my space) and I thank you to any who've listen and stayed with the story thus far. Til then, take care everyone! <3
Honestly I was enjoying Throes of Winter. Not for the sex, but to see what happens when a Villian goes to War, is Evil really Evil when it fights a worse evil?
Throes of War has my favorite depiction of Sombra I've ever seen. The atmosphere and characterization are excellent, and I found your clop scenes hotter than most, although I wouldn't be bothered if you toned them down; whatever you feel works best for the tale. I thought your OC was interesting in her limited screen time.
I can't comment on your other story as I haven't read it, but I wish you luck with it!
Now I've read Knight's Undoing and thought it was pretty good. The clop was certainly hot, and with the angle of mind/perception manipulation you could take the series in lots of directions.
It's hard to comment too much since it's unclear where it's headed; like if Cadance is actually broken or did Sombra just mess with Shining's perceptions during her assault? Rhetorical question, I'd certainly like to read more if you wish to write it!
It's very late but I'll reply anyway. I really liked Knight's Undoing and I hope it will progress soon. I was particularly interested in the "obsession" that Sombra feels towards Shining (or at least that's what I understood ) and I was hoping it would turn into something more serious (and kinky). keep up the good work!
