The last research paper I worked on has published at last.

The process is REALLY slow. I finished all my work on this 3 years ago.

    https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2316969121

This one uses a lot of my histology and in-situ hybridization with RNAscope results.

But no more science for me. Now I build houses and driveways... and rip them apart too! It's a sort of yin-yang thing I've got going here.

A comedic scene from a new Clouseua story I'm fiddling with...

I just came up with this, and imagining Peter Sellers delivering the line had me laughing for 5 minutes straight.

Clouseau, "For you see, the murderer was... the bullet!"

    Guy in room, "The bullet?"

Clouseau, "Of course, no one would suspect the bullet of firing itself!"

Woman in room, "But that... that's madness!"

THE PIRATE KING BREAKS THE NETFLIX ANIME ADAPTATION CURSE!!!

Only the Pirate King could do it...

It's as good as possible. You cannot do such a goofy anime any better than this, and it's GREAT! I friggin LOVED it.

Last call for Bronycon items up on Ebay!

I'll be delisting all remaining MLP items Sept 1st to focus entirely on selling my huge stash of collectible magazines, which take up vastly more space than the MLP items. Everything here fits into a single flat box I can pick up with one hand. The magazines... weigh over 700 lbs total. Sooooo, kinda makes sense to deal with those ASAP!

So, he's back... · 4:00am Mar 5th, 2019

Just saw the new trailer... old Smokey's been dragged out of the story waste basket I see.

The one villain so weak that even Celestia and Luna could beat him.

The one villain so pathetic he was used as a test for Twilight.

The one villain they didn't even need the EoH to stop.

A villain Discord should curb-stomp in less time than it takes to fart.

And so clearly he's going to suddenly be 100x more powerful than he was and all of Equestria's new allies will be conveniently absent until NEW MCGUFFIN powers show up at the last second and save the day. Because of course being blown apart and reduced to a horn fragment only makes him stronger (he's a Saiyan, obviously).

Admit it, this is what's going to happen and you know it.

They could at least team him with Chrysalis. Then they'd at least be remotely a genuine threat.

Really? That's a pity. They have Grogar, which is 100x better than Sombrero ever was.

Probably they thought that they couldn't sell a goat-ram thing. All the girls and others must be salivating at getting a unicorn mixed with a vampire from Twilight a shadowy fanged cloud that can masquerade as a pony.

To be fair, he was a ghost at the time. If he's been spending the last 7 seasons recovering his strength, they maybe he'll be a bit more powerful than last time.

So, the comic are officially out of continuity then. I remember in the comics that Sombra had been purified from his evil side.
Because, of course, DARKNESS IS EVIL AND LIGHT IS PURE AND GOOD... I hate when they pull that crap.
Even more because it makes destiny look good and nice, while instead he's a freaking jerk that force people to be bad.
But the main characters doesn't realize that because they are too much focused on themselves being the hero of the story.

Last season, bud.
Dey bringin' back EVERYONE

So is thing going to be like Super Smash Bros Ultimate?

5023220 And therein lies the rub: HOW is he regaining strength? He wasn't actually a 'ghost' in Season 3, he was returning from banishment. He was then exploded, and only a small piece was left.

Never mind they have to explain how he regenerated from a horn, they also have to give us a reason to believe he could both regrow and become more powerful.

Then we also have to have a reason the FOUR Princesses, the changelings, the dragons, and Discord can't instantly crush him to mush. I suspect they'll be conveniently absent without mention, as has so often been the case (PoS, anyone?)

5023306 Except the Diamond Dogs. But they were an inferior race anyway. Only useful for Korean BBQ. :trollestia:

5023281 Uhm, how about the simple fact that the comic story was overflowing with plot holes and plot contrivances and granting power to Sombra he hadn't previously possessed? And then the day is saved when all the rest of Equestria just shows up out of the blue. Including Discord, who could have single-handedly stopped the whole mess from the start. It was just a damned sloppy story, assailable from many MANY angles.

My primary point it, the ponies have a Discord. The closest thing to A FRIGGIN' GOD on the show.

So now they have to keep making up BS ever since Season 4 to explain away why he can't just insta-splat any enemy, or just forget he even exists for the episode.

5023516
I didn't know what really happened in the comics. I remember reading the first number of that story, more out of curiosity than anything, but then never bothered to read how it went on, until the two very last pages.
Thet will certainly pull out something to weaken him, like they did at the end of Season 6 (If I'm not mistaken) finale, where they really pull out a sudden kryptonite that depowered him.
I mean, why didn't Celestia knew about that magic mcguffin before!?
Just so that Starlight could be the hero of the story.

5024033 Discord will now be rendered helpless after Delilah Pony tricks him into shaving off his long, flowing hair.

Which he will suddenly have because they need this to happen.

:trollestia:

5024460 Spike is now Gohan.

He really needs to learn how to dodge.

:trollestia:

They're going for a redemption story, I know it

5029824 Given that they haven't fleshed Sombra's story out at all other than in the comics, in what was a rather poorly-received story (and poorly written, for that matter), that would be a harder sell than if Chrysalis suddenly decided to become a Skittles Bug for no reason. At least for Bug Horse Queen, NOW we can say she has a reason: the rest of her kind are thriving and happy and full of love, while she's miserable, hungry, and alone. That's some actual motivation to at least try to be good if she can get over herself.

Sombra... we gots nuthin.

5029848
so, you've watched the show since the beginning. Planning on sticking in the fandom till the end? Any thoughts on the show overall? Any affects its presence had in your life?

5029854 Oh, I'll stick to the end. It's become lazy in its structuring and continuity... but not INSULTING (like Doctor Who, Star Trek, and Star Wars, which I am DONE WITH as far as any new material is concerned). I'll watch its final fitful breaths and mourn what could have been had the show ended up with better overall direction and attention to detail.

As for how it's 'changed my life'... well, I'm on IMDB now. I have a producers' credit for the lengthily-titled first brony documentary with John Delancie. I had fun with it. I got to find many fanfics that were the best I'd ever found. Aside from that... there's been no great transformation. I was already 32 when the show came out and quite a complete individual. It simply resonated with what I'd always looked for in quality children's cartoons: imaginative, with a colorful world full of potential for development. I saw the same things in such shows as "Gravity Falls", "Adventure Time", and "Star Vs the Forces of Evil". And even SU initially... but that show quickly squandered its potential with horrible structuring and narrative flow.

I'd say the most lasting contribution will be the many great writers I've come across. Moreso if I ever have the opportunity to seize control of the Walt Disney Corp and create the most evil media empire in the history of the universe. Then they'll all become my henchmen and make amazing movies audiences will empty their bank accounts to watch hundreds of times! MUWAH HA HA HA!! (another lasting impact is clearly the expansion of Alondro's delusions of grandeur....)

5029862
People willingly spending their own money on a quality product sold at a price they feel is fair?

The horror... the horror:fluttershbad:

5029864 It will be the ultimate scheme! No one will suspect honest business practices!

Soon I shall... RULE THE WORLD!!
