The last research paper I worked on has published at last.

The process is REALLY slow. I finished all my work on this 3 years ago.

    https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2316969121

This one uses a lot of my histology and in-situ hybridization with RNAscope results.

But no more science for me. Now I build houses and driveways... and rip them apart too! It's a sort of yin-yang thing I've got going here.

A comedic scene from a new Clouseua story I'm fiddling with...

I just came up with this, and imagining Peter Sellers delivering the line had me laughing for 5 minutes straight.

Clouseau, "For you see, the murderer was... the bullet!"

    Guy in room, "The bullet?"

Clouseau, "Of course, no one would suspect the bullet of firing itself!"

Woman in room, "But that... that's madness!"

THE PIRATE KING BREAKS THE NETFLIX ANIME ADAPTATION CURSE!!!

Only the Pirate King could do it...

It's as good as possible. You cannot do such a goofy anime any better than this, and it's GREAT! I friggin LOVED it.

Last call for Bronycon items up on Ebay!

I'll be delisting all remaining MLP items Sept 1st to focus entirely on selling my huge stash of collectible magazines, which take up vastly more space than the MLP items. Everything here fits into a single flat box I can pick up with one hand. The magazines... weigh over 700 lbs total. Sooooo, kinda makes sense to deal with those ASAP!

THE PIRATE KING BREAKS THE NETFLIX ANIME ADAPTATION CURSE!!! · 12:06am Sep 3rd, 2023

Only the Pirate King could do it...

It's as good as possible. You cannot do such a goofy anime any better than this, and it's GREAT! I friggin LOVED it.

And apparently I'm not alone, as it currently sits at an 8.5/10 on IMDB with 28,000 ratings already (it went from 27,000 to 28,000 as I was writing this, just to show how fast the counter is rising)! For comparison, "Oppenheimer", a blockbuster hailed as Christopher Nolan's masterpiece, is at an 8.6/10 with 407,000 ratings after 6 weeks in theaters.

You can see that the production staff LOVED the anime, and DEEPLY READ INTO THE SOURCE MATERIAL, because there are details only the attentive and current manga readers would know, and they're woven into the narrative where they fit from the start, and I mean the VERY start, of the adaptation. (Gol D. Roger and Garp's little interaction at Roger's execution hinting at what is revealed much MUCH MUCH later on!)

The only character I worry about seeing if there are indeed later seasons (and with a positive response this massive, that's practically guaranteed now), is Chopper. He's SO cartoony, they'll have to design him exceedingly well to pull it off and not create major Uncanny Valley vibes. But then, (after a horrifying false start) we got a decent live-action Sonic and a great Detective Pikachu. This team has already shown us a monstrous and yet anime-recognizable Sea King, as well as a menacing and realistic-looking Arlong. So maybe they CAN manage to get that goofy little reindeer right!

I'm actually eager for a season 2... something I NEVER expected to be for a Netflix anime adaptation!

Sounds like something actually went right for once this time.:rainbowderp:

SRY

Oh Damn, this is good news. I was worried they were going to royally fuck it up.

5744971 It's holding at 8.5/10 with 32,000 ratings now!

Probably going to end up as one the top 3 highest-rated Netflix shows EVER!

Monday morning update: 8.5/10 with 41,000 ratings. It's rare to see the number of ratings for a series grow so rapidly.

In regards to One Piece... Luffy has gone to plaid and is coming in at half a Pinkie Pie. The breaching of the 4th wall is imminent

God help the Grand Line:fluttershbad:

Seriously, he's become a full on loony toons character, and that's utterly terrifying

5745483 Silly boy, Luffy was based off of ME all along! BUT SO WAS DIO!!!

(Alondro is LOONY TOONS DIO!!! HIS POWER HAS NO LIMITS!!! THERE'S NO HOPE!!!) :fluttershbad::raritydespair::unsuresweetie:

Oda must be nigh unto the Imperial Family in terms of popularity to justify the budget on this scene alone

5745541 Oh yes, the budget was at least $9!

At the very least! :trollestia:

5745544
Like I said, they upped his budget:trollestia:
