new chapter · 5:49pm Jan 19th, 2019
i just have to do some minor editing, and it'll be ready to publish.
it's the big one! 15,490 words, in retrospect it probably should've been two chapters but there wasn't a good spot to split it. plus i'm impatient and wanted to post the big chapter already.
bunch of puzzle pieces and mysteries getting brought into the light. Raises new questions too.
i'd appreciate it if your guys' theories and spoilery stuff could go behind blackouts like that so new readers don't get jumped by big twists in the comments, but im not gonna delete comments once they're posted.
also, just like to say that for this chapter i had to do a lot of research on which flowers people can eat, turns out a lot of them, so i went with one that's just bitter to humans, but still edible. turns out most things that horses can eat, people can too, it's just not a great idea in some cases. it felt weird thinking about putting that in the author's comments after some of the big stuff gets revealed. Also this chapter pulls the whole "rarity makes some clothes for human" cliche, but c'mon guys, lottie's naked from the waist down. Let her have some clothes.
the beginning drags a bit, but i think it's still a good read. hopefully some of the big reveals will distract from that. Enjoy, coming soon!
Though in the subject of flowers, there are some exceptions. I seem to recall that horses can eat either hemlock or nightshade, which humans most certainly cannot.
As always, looking forward to new horse words.
Don't forget there may be a difference between what we can eat and what we can digest. There are things that human digestive tracts just can not break down and get nutrients from, even if it passes without harm.
