Half the time I don't even know how I do what I seem to do so well. I try not to think too hard on it, for fear of breaking myself in the process.

I have an idea, and I need some feedback because this might be a big one

It goes without saying, I'm not the fastest writer around these parts. Not anymore at least. Anymore it takes time to get an idea figured out, written down, and refined to the point I want to release it for being read. But this doesn't lend itself well to getting the chapters and updates churned out. And unfortunately it leaves you with more ideas being backlogged than you want to admit. It

    Small update

Ever since the last chapter I've been stumped on what to do with the next chapter.

I'm happy to report that I'm 1.3K words into the next chapter, so things are slowly but surely getting done.

    Not dead

Neither I nor the story are dead as of the time of this posting.

Turns out writing Ulquiorra from the outside perspective of uninitiated ponies is a lot harder than I thought it'd be, and I'm having to spend a lot more time in the brainstorming stage than I'm accustomed to.

    Why?

Why is it so damn hard to write at times?

Why does the prospect of sitting down to type up an idea and give it physical form, seem to just suck the life and enthusiasm right out of you?

    A thought

The current chapters for HIE are proving to be a lot harder to write than I thought. Even harder when you've got distracted thoughts flaunting themselves at you.

First off, I apologize for the unreasonably long delay in the next chapter, I'm trying something new. I'm taking a similar approach to what Team Four Star did for DBZA episode sixty.

Secondly, I'm also plotting where to take the story for after, and in the process a particular question came to mind that I'd like feedback from the readers on. Would it be considered too unbelievable in this blending of canons for Ulquiorra to learn how to perform magic to some extent?

It depends on if you want to make reiatsu and pony magic fundamentally different energies. If they're the same, then it would make perfect sense, but if they're different and you still want to try having Ulquiorra learn magic, then I would suggest maybe having him adapt the spells in such a way that they use reiatsu instead of magic. Make it so that he has his own personal twist on the spell.

I pretty much agree with everything said here. I mean, I believe it's been shown that Ulquiorra can "sense" magic, so it's not that much of a stretch to go from "sensing" to "recreating". It'd be kinda like him making his own Kido.

Plus in the earlier chapters didn't Celestia and Luna lower their magic output so Ulquiorra wouldn't feel like he was being crushed? Which he stated was their reiatsu. So I'd say it's plausible, but that he'd probably put his own spin on whatever spells he learned.

While others might consider Ulquiorra learning magic to be jumping the proverbial shark, I'd like to see this development for myself.

It'd be nice to see his surprise (Or lack thereof) at the fact that he could improve old skills and learn new ones via magic. Imagine him squaring off against Tirek...

Well, maybe not "Magic", but I could definitely see him experimenting with his own abilities in order to replicate the feats that ponies are capable of. I mean, unicorn levitation is basically just surrounding something with their aura and using it as another appendage, so it shouldn't be impossible to do something similar with his Reiatsu--it'd just require frankly insane levels of control.

And who knows, he's basically been absorbing the magic in the atmosphere as a substitute for Reishi since he arrived, so developing true magical abilities really isn't that farfetched when you think about it.

Kido is soul reaper magic and an arrancar is a hollow with soul reaper powers, so the idea he could learn by way of creating Kido spells the recreate the affects of pony magic makes sense
