Half the time I don't even know how I do what I seem to do so well. I try not to think too hard on it, for fear of breaking myself in the process.

I have an idea, and I need some feedback because this might be a big one

It goes without saying, I'm not the fastest writer around these parts. Not anymore at least. Anymore it takes time to get an idea figured out, written down, and refined to the point I want to release it for being read. But this doesn't lend itself well to getting the chapters and updates churned out. And unfortunately it leaves you with more ideas being backlogged than you want to admit. It

    Small update

Ever since the last chapter I've been stumped on what to do with the next chapter.

I'm happy to report that I'm 1.3K words into the next chapter, so things are slowly but surely getting done.

    Not dead

Neither I nor the story are dead as of the time of this posting.

Turns out writing Ulquiorra from the outside perspective of uninitiated ponies is a lot harder than I thought it'd be, and I'm having to spend a lot more time in the brainstorming stage than I'm accustomed to.

    Why?

Why is it so damn hard to write at times?

Why does the prospect of sitting down to type up an idea and give it physical form, seem to just suck the life and enthusiasm right out of you?

    A thought

The current chapters for HIE are proving to be a lot harder to write than I thought. Even harder when you've got distracted thoughts flaunting themselves at you.

Same here

From one beleaguered author to another, spending time with one or more stories long enough can cause the excitement to dwindle, especially if Writer's Block plays a part. Eventually, the spark just leaves before it comes back, be it by chance or by finding any sliver of creativity wherever possible. There's nothing wrong with taking a break when facing burnout, because at the end of the day, what you're doing is merely a hobby of your choosing. Unless, of course, it's a possible career choice, in which case, never give up. But definitely consider breaks and self-care.

Dude, you've been doing this one story--almost to the exclusion of anything else--for over a decade. I'd be more surprised if you didn't hit a point where you're burned out. Take a break if you want one. It's not like we're going to roll up on you and make you write or anything :rainbowlaugh:.

Yeah, dude? It sounds like you're just burned out. Take a break, put the story on hiatus for a bit and refresh your brain. I'd hate to see you come to loathe something you've given so much time and love to.

I hope you can get over this malaise Charlie, g'night dude!

Yeah, take a vacation buddy. If you still have an urge to write switch to a different franchise other than Mlp. Maybe come up with new OC of your own

I've been asking myself that same question when I started writing fanfics on the fanfiction website. I realise it's not as easy as I thought. Especially when readers point out my flaws. I can handle criticism but when it's constant I feel like I'm doing something wrong.

I concur with the others: If you need to take a break, go ahead and take one.
