The one where Cozy Glow finally snaps.
Honestly, who didn't see this one coming?
Oh my! What a finale! So many twists, so many turns, and so much potential for the ninth and last season of MLP FiM! It’ll be an emotional day when this series finally reaches its conclusion… and this was just another step closer in that direction. Also, I’ll be showing how the finale affects my Avengers: Infinity War crossover at the end of the review, so stick around for that. Let’s check it out!
So, we begin with Derpy (can’t begin a finale without bringing in Derpy) delivering mail to the School of Friendship. Cozy Glow is showing just how innocent and helpful she is to Twilight (the little bugger). We cut over to Cloudsdale where Starlight’s magic has suddenly failed, causing all the students standing on the clouds to fall to their doom. Especially Yona. What was this, her fourth time she almost died in season 8? Anyway, the princesses call our main cast to Canterlot to figure out from Star Swirl that magic is disappearing across Equestria. Who better than to steal magic than Tirek himself?!
Twilight and the gang embark on a journey to Tartarus (been wanting to see Tartarus since it was first mentioned) and left Starlight in charge of the school. However, we learn that Cozy has taken over with Starlight’s whereabouts unknown. Also, Chancellor Neighsay has usurped Twilight’s position and taken over the school! He accuses the Young Six of stealing the magic in Equestria (yeah, I don’t get it either), and we learn that Starlight has been trapped underneath the school near the Tree of Harmony.
And it was all because of Cozy Glow. She was behind everything. Shocker, I know.
Back in Tartarus, Tirek tells Twilight and the others about his little prodigy, how he pushed her in the right direction in order to steal the magic in Equestria and send it to another realm for all eternity. And just like the magic, Twilight and her friends are trapped in Tartarus for eternity unless they can get the right amount of magic to escape.
Neighsay is overthrown by Cozy Glow, the Young Six try to free Starlight and nearly get sucked away as well. However, the Tree of Harmony chose them (in a very Elements of Harmony fashion) and freed not only Starlight and the students, but the rest of the magic in Equestria. Cozy Glow, instead of offered redemption, is sent straight to Tartarus alongside Tirek (yeah, we’ll talk about).
And… close! I really enjoyed this finale! Aside from a few missed opportunities, this was very enjoyable and even helped answer a lot of fan concerns, such as what Tartarus looks like when entered, what Tirek’s been up to, and how they were going to handle the Young Six and Neighsay. It was awesome!
The only things I didn’t really enjoy was how they handled Cozy Glow. They set her up to be this really calculating, intimidating, and maybe even ingenious villain. I was REALLY looking forward to her backstory and motivations… of which are completely dull or nonexistent. Cozy wants to take over the school to have a lot of friends… so she can control friendship… which is what she explains is the most powerful force in the world… for no reason or real backstory at all. She's just evil because… evil. Missed opportunity there. Maybe we’ll get her backstory in season 9.
Also, what the hell Celestia and Luna?! You’re gonna send a child to Hell without even a chance for redemption?! What about Cozy’s parents?! Does she even have parents?! Who is Cozy Glow?! That now leaves three potential villains whose stories we need to close by season 9. Chrysalis is still out there, and now Cozy Glow and Tirek are still potential threats. Season 9 better go out with a bang is all I’m saying.
Other than that, really good finale! Looking forward to all the reactions on YouTube! 9/10! What were your thoughts?
HEADCANNON WARNING
For those interested, here is how the Season 8 finale ultimately affects Infinity Era:
- The New Gates of Tartarus were constructed by the princesses shortly after the events of A Beautiful New Age. Unlike the old gates embedded within Mount Tartarus that were destroyed by Ultron, the New Gates can be opened only through a powerful magic. Twilight and the other princesses have visited Tartarus numerous times to bring escaped monsters and demons back to their cells (Bugbear, Chimera, etc.) The New Gates are located in the mountain ranges within the Badlands. 
- Infinity Era takes place in the summer, meaning there are no classes in the School of Friendship except for students who wished to take summer classes on friendship. The Young Six are back in their respective lands with their families.
- Tirek is still in Tartarus after having escaped thanks to Ultron. The Vision sent him back to his cell with a blast from the Mind Stone.
- Neighsay, Cozy Glow, and other major characters from the finale may or may not make appearances down the line in the story. Very doubtful on Cozy Glow, but maybe Neighsay now that he’s not racist anymore.
- Other characters and races such as Kirin and those introduced in Season 8 may make appearances down the line.

Well based on some images floating around that may or may not be real it seems possible we may be seeing more of Tirek and Cozy Glow in season 9 along with other new and returning villains. Personally, I'm expecting a good old fashion Villain team up where we finally see the magic of friendship turned against our heroes. Can't imagine the series ending any other way.
Yeah, Season 8 was an awesome season, I really enjoyed the Finale, can't wait for Season 9, I'm hoping for a villain team up, since we will likey see Cozy, Tirek and Chrysalis return in Season 9, also, I hope Lightning Dust has a Cameo in Infinity Era at least
Honestly, I kept expecting Cozy to reveal herself to be Chrysalis (has her grudge against Starlight been forgotten?) or something else. The idea that she's only a filly is simply too much to take. Would they put a filly in Tartarus? I'm assuming that she'll play a major role in the final season.
I also must say that I am already totally depressed and heartbroken at them ending this wonderful show, beloved by all the world, after just nine seasons. Honestly, they couldn't even give us a tenth??? I'm 61 years old and have been watching cartoons since Tom Terrific and the Mighty Mouse Playhouse, and I simply must state that FiM is in my experience and opinion the single greatest franchise in the history of animation, and that its version of Pinkie Pie is simply the greatest animated character of all time.
I don't see why the Simpsons and South Park and even Arthur the aardvark keep going for decades while this wonderful phenomenon is going to be concluded (probably) in such a way that there'll never be a chance to see this version of the characters again. Yes, I know we have fan fiction and fan art and fan videos and even reruns (hopefully), but that's not enough. Just knowing that there would always be a new episode coming has made my life so much more bearable during the past several years (which have been very hard).
I am absolutely heartbroken. I've been a fan of many cartoons over the years, but this has beat them all. And I've read somewhere that the FiM crew is already murmuring that Gen 5 is going to be a disaster.
But whether it is a good or a bad show, it will never be as great as FiM, and no character will ever displace FiM Pinkie in my heart.
Yes, I'm pathetic, but it's the truth. I'm miserable over this.

Were you disappointed that Tartarus was not much of a Hell that it accurately should be but reduced to nothing more than a containment storage for Wild Strays
9/10, I'd never imagine there'd be a female Golden State Warrior (Royal Guard).
I don't force, but you should mind and make opinions about these, please...
Also and if they do appear that would be sweet, I sure hope, and really hope the Kirin will appear in Avengers: Infinity Era, as one of those guys who are being enlisted by Tempest.
And I hope Chrysie, Ti-wreck and Cozy Glow, which I felt disappointed for treatment, considering kids like them should be sent for psychological evaluation instead of solitary incarceration, like Zemo, were one of those trillions of lives, half of everything, victimized once Thanos, Infinity Gauntlet... the Snap flicks off. That might teach a grand and painful lesson on Celestia and Luna (in case they too have been dusted and resurrected), that they should reconsider their choices of punishment, and they should think first before just haphazardly throw someone in jail, otherwise they would be no different than Thanos in choosing who to punish at random circumstances like age.
I hope Neighsay will have a "say" about the universal hell that's already happened in his world and such a "creature", the Mad Titan, is the cause of all the atrocities.
I don't know about Lightning Dust, although I wished she would be disintegrated by the Stones so that would trigger Rainbow Dash into regretting all those horrible times they had.
Given if some or all of the Student 6 will disintegrate in the infamous event, that might serve as a motivator, a means or arousal for the good Equestrians to exact vengeance against Thanos, as Thor was with half of his people, as sometimes if saving or friendship is not enough, then vengeance would be the best option, a final resort if they wish to AVENGE those they've lost, after all, according to Lord Baby-Pirate-Angel, Rage and Vengeance, Anger, Loss and Regret, whether the ponies like it or not, they're the only the best and tremendous motivators and the only way to clear their worry-driven minds.
I'm not forcing ya, but you gotta answer these questions to let me know.

Also we get to see the royal guards be really useful not really screw up their job for once onscreen (not counting the canon alternate Sombra war universe), also we saw an actual canon female guard
(bat ponie guards are only canon in comics so far)
Also I liked Neighsay change of heart he was a big jerk mainly cause he had the mindset that nonponies will use friendship against them..... Until he saw Cozy Glow, a pony, use friendship against him he kinda saw the light (though I kinda still wanna punch him in the face) and he knows he himself still has a lot to learn......

It's all of a more reason to expand Cozy Glow's character in season 9. Celestia and Luna better have a good reason for imprisoning a child in Tartarus.

Series is most likely going to end in season 9. Pretty much confirmed at this point. I'm sure this site will still be running, as fan fiction potential is limitless. Plus, G5 may spur some more fanfics.
My current headcannon and the season 8 finale kinda fits in already with what I've written for the story, so I'm not gonna go back and change anything.
If the Christmas special can fit, then it'll probably occur before Infinity Era. Gotta watch it first though.

Well at least one of my fave shows, SpongeBob, continues and intends to run on Season 12 and more coming out in the horizon and beyond, entertaining us with its slapstick, although it's pretty much jumping the shark starting with Season 4. If MLP goes Season 12 and beyond, we might see that series had some circumstance to jump the shark. Look what happened to The Fairly OddParents, starring Tara Strong, ever since it pulled Season 9 out of the bag, it showed a grave decline in quality partly because of the introductions of new characters and Butch Hartman sailing off from Nick due to arguments and creative problems just made things worse, eventually docking the show by Season 10. So I'm still looking forward for SpongeBob's zany adventures for Season 12.
If not the Kirin, if a major role or not, then Autumn Blaze might have some sort of screentime for this story and the focus of their perspective.
That episode should spark some sort of a controversy surrounding and concerning child imprisonment, serious illegal detention, human rights and denying psychological evaluation amongst felonious childen.
I said AFTER the Thanos battle will they be celebrating the holidays if it fits that is. Well, what fits fits, if not, not.
If you're not gonna change some early chapters that might arouse some confusion around readers, but that story should have some mention or stories of Season 8 or whatnot in future issues.
Leaks spoiled Cozy Glow's villainy for me, but I was a bit shocked about Tirek's involvement in the scheme. Also has it really been confirmed about the ninth being the last season?
