LAST CALL FOR CLIPSHOW ENTRIES and some other stuff · 12:01pm Sep 11th, 2018

This is the FINAL CALL for Sombra's Clipshow!

IT IS OFFICIALLY TIME TO PANIC.

All of you fans, writers, and otherwise have TWENTY-FOUR HOURS (edit: deadline already passed, sorry) to make your submissions! Submissions for what you ask? This. Work quickly if you've never heard of it before, cause you've only got one day!

I'll look over any snips sent up to the twenty-four hour mark. After that, no dice! So if you're working on something and don't think it's quite ready or could use some grammar tweaking - send it in anyway. The editing army and I will eat it to shreds before Sombra's Clipshow goes live. This is your last minute wake-up call.

Since I won't be posting tomorrow because I'm making this post now - I just want all of you who submitted to know that it's been great reading all your things and adding them to my fun, bizarre world. There have been more than a few good laughs, and a couple moments where I went 'huh, didn't think about that'. I love that feeling. The chapter currently has so many snips it sits at 17,000 words - the largest non-movie chapter released so far. (I have a 20,000 stored up for later, so not the longest of all time). I can definitely say the Clipshow has been a success even before publish, and I hope when we get to the next community-driven chapter (#100, in case you want to mark your calendars) there'll be even more participation. Thank you.

I know there are a few of you who's snips didn't make it - not because they were bad, but because the tone didn't match. There are also some of you who didn't write things because of time constraints or real-life stuff - and that's okay. I won't be accepting more clipshow submissions tomorrow, but holy potatoes on Mars would I like to see you turn those ideas into a sidestory. This existence I've meticulously crafted is very open for sidestory creation from just about any idea you can throw at me. I absolutely love reading them, and it's a shame all the larger sidestories were written back in the early days of SotS on the Spacebattles Forum. (Links to those on the Fimfiction Group Forum).

...Also it's bugging me more than a little that all the stories in the Fimficiton Group are mine. I know there are peeps out there who write stuff, but so far, all non-pony stories and it makes the group look barren... Spoopily barren... Definitely just me looking too much into things, but y'know.

Anyway, that's about all I have to say related to Sombra's Clipshow. Time to twist things to a completely unrelated topic.

Hey you! Yes,you! Do you like talking about multiversal things? Do you like debating the finer points of Songs of the Spheres philosophy? Do you want to ask me questions directly? Do you like endless posting of memes? Do you want advice on your writing? Do you want to hear GM complain about college? Do you want to build a tower of :yay:? Do you want to talk to Twilence*? Do you want access to chapter drafts through the end of ARC 7!?

Then look no further than GM's personal discord server. Click this bad boy of a link and get invited to the best of the Internet** and join a community where we collectively control the fate of existence while at the same time doing absolutely nothing! There is no fee, believe it or not! You can even have any color you want for your name! There are also many other benefits*** to joining up that can't be listed in a simple blog post!

*Availability of Twilence sporadic at best and conversation not guaranteed.
**Not really the best of the Internet. But hey, it's not the worst!
***Rewards given to those who edit/comment on drafts and write substantial sidestories. These rewards are mostly meaningless besides a special role. But don't tell anyone that.

AAAAAA HOLY POTATOES I just hit command Q instead of command A and I QUIT THE BROWSER and by some holy miracle of the Tower Everything is still here. That was the worst feeling. Ever. Of all time.

Ah!

I finished and submitted my clip already but I still feel like I HAVE TO PANIC!

but holy potatoes on Mars

Earth Watney crossover confirmed? (Possibly with ponies, dragon, and changeling?) :raritywink:

Good to know this won't be the only community chapter. Still, I'm hesitant to dip further into it since... well, for one I have too many ideas of my own as it is. It's also kind of hard to get people into something where the core story is the best part of a megaword and has only really gotten started. And there's the same issue I have with the Triptych Continuum where I feel I don't have enough information to do the setting justice.

So yeah, long and short of it is that you've done such a good job that I'm kind of intimidated by the prospect of contributing to the Song. :twilightsheepish:

Having too many ideas: oh boy, I can relate. You can probably tell from the sheer variety of topics covered in SotS I have that exact same problem. AUGH! Perfectly understandable. (Though one of the reasons I made SotS the way it is was so that I could channel almost any idea and still further the actual story.)

'has only really gotten started' Eh, maybe to you. But I just finished ARC 9. The multiverse is pretty well established in my head now, and not much is going to change about it because the rest of it is all endgame stuff. Just ask me if you have lore questions. I am a vaaast store of information. And drafts. Also, Tryptich Continuum? Wassis?

((will also say that most sidestories took up a tent in an unrelated section of the multiverse and just told their own story. Only Keywii's actually ties into SotS directly in-time, and Triv's is about Vriska and the Doctor backstory. The MORI corporation, the best one, is its own entity. By the way, go read the MORI corporation.))

You. Intimidated. By me. :rainbowderp: Who's the one with over a thousand followers again?

Who's the one with a vision of the multiverse that makes my stuff pale in comparison? I just got here first.

The Triptych Continuum is the primary continuity of Estee, who worked out an internally consistent model of the pony world's society, magic, and history at the end of Season 3 and has worked with said model with minimal adjustments since. Of particular interest to you might be the Canterlot Deportation Agency stories, wherein an Equestria similar to but distinct from the main Continuum has suffered so many incursions of humans acting villainous that they have a specialized task force for dealing with extradimensional hominids, including a holding area/prison village for all the people who accidentally found their way to Equestria and have no way to get back home. The ponies have no one-size-fits-all way to send anyone back either, and they've been burned by would-be conquerors often enough to not trust anyone any further than they can throw them.

Be advised that Estee tends towards the more cynical side of things. She can be one of the more contentious authors on the site, though she's one of my personal favorites.
