The Bad, The Good, and both are news. · 5:15am Aug 22nd, 2018
I'm back from Norway, so I can get to writing again. (The wedding was fine, and Oslo was pretty, but I'm glad to be home, travel is exhausting.) The good news is that I think my funk is over, and I can actually make progress again. Took me long enough.
The Bad news (for all 10 fans of EoT) is that I'm putting Elements of Tyranny on hiatus. It's not that I don't want to write it anymore, on the contrary, my players are finally doing some awesome stuff I really want to write! It's that its driving me insane trying to write it.
Let me try and explain... Imagine if you are working on something and you have to plan out scene 5, while writing scene 3, and have no clue what's going to happen in scene 4. You have to do this for every scene, and you've only got a week to work on it. it doesn't sound quite so bad, but it means that pretty much only scene 1 is one you can plan and write without having no idea what's going to happen.
I'm going to finish writing up session 6 and post it before I set it aside. However, I hate simply dropping stuff without any plans for finishing it. If my group even falls apart, or if the complete the campaign, I'll come back and write it up. (I'm keeping notes on what the players are doing) It may be a while though. (And I'm not super quick at writing.)
In it's place, this is the Good news, I can finally start to work on the sequel to Mask of Despair. A little something I'm calling "The Ash of Fallen Stars." No spoilers for you. Although, you can get a few hints as to how the final question of Mask of Despair resolved in my short story, The Gift.
As another side note, I've decided all my stories so far exist in the same continuity. This means Auctor from What do you Think may show up, probably only as a cameo, and I might mention the events of Elements of Tyranny. (Which takes place some 500 years before the show, so it won't have a huge impact)
