I like the ability to figure things out, but not too subtle please! It works better (in my humble opinion) if you name-drop most of it, but don't have the characters figure it out immediately.
You don't need to spoon feed us, but don't go to such lengths where readers need to sit down and have intense discussion to figure out where the story is going. A single reader should be able to figure it out if they're paying attention.
Whatever you reveal, I'm fine so long as it's delivered naturally. And hopefully the stinger is decent and/or pulled off successfully, since I don't see that happen all that often in fan-fiction.
