shhhhhhhhhhhh just breaking the site again don't mind me

very, very, very experimental fic continues its slow progress as the deadline for bicyclette's sci-fi contest draws near. these chapters are about on-par with what if in terms of length, but oh boy have they been an interesting experience to write.

hey hey btw i've got a (couple of) public minecraft server(s)!

yeah so anyway here is my webbed site lol. there's an MC Classic server for building whatever, and an MC Beta 1.7.3 server for playing survival. I might eventually also put up a modern vanilla server as well, though given how I'm hosting a bunch of servers already for friends and a couple of discord servers, idk if the little slab of a PC I'm using to host 'em all would be able to manage lol.

summer break is almost here :V

basically got one week left lol. got an experimental fic in the works that's a sort-of direct sequel picking off right where Splintershard ended. no prior reading is necessary.

MAN it's been a while since I've toyed with writing styles.

A musing on original story publishing · 8:00am Jun 25th, 2018

I certainly want to keep all rights to my own story, which means that I'll practically be ruling out every major publishing house there is.

I guess I'll self-publish, then. I can handle writing and editing myself, I can join some reviewing groups to get the thing proofread, maybe stir up some hype with Kickstarter and some marketing muscle, and partner up with a printing company to get the thing rolling into stores.

Idunno. It's nearly 2 AM now, I've been listening to music for the past half an hour, and thinking about the technical side of worldbuilding.

Either way, I'm uncomfortable with the idea of signing away my rights to my in work to some publishing company.

Any tips on self publishing? All I've got so far are some pages on how self-publishing works and an article about US copyright law.

Thou may find the following interesting, mine friend, check 't through, at which hour thou hast free time.

Something like Kickstarter is probably a good idea; especially for your first original novel. That way you might have more solid ground later to negotiate with a publisher to get something published without losing your rights.
I've got a friend putting his own first original work on Kickstarter soon. He's putting the initial goal just high enough to cover the cost of an editor and cover artist, then he has a few ideas for stretch goals and reward tiers (such as a low contribution getting a digital copy of the book, and a higher contribution getting a physical copy.).
