Well, this is a crap day. · 4:57am Jun 14th, 2018
Well, place I am working at decided today that it is going to shut down and move operations to the Dominican Republic come November. 630 people are going to be losing their jobs. It just makes economic sense for them. They basically get rewarded for shuttering our location and laying people off as "business losses" and they can operate at a fraction of the cost in DR. Got to love Trumpenomics, its all about businesses making more money, not keeping people employed.
That's 630 people with similar qualifications getting thrown into the workforce in the area with not nearly that many jobs to fill. Going to be hell trying to find new work. Going to find out tomorrow what my severence package will look like, but word on the grapevine is it is going to be like four weeks pay.
sorry to hear that hope you dins a job
Years ago the bank I kept my money in pulled the same joke. Outsourced work to India.
So I walked into my branch and closed my account.
Best part was when the bank teller asked me why.
When I told her it was in protest of (their) local jobs being outsourced, I could see her spirits lift.
But yeah. Sucks.
I lost my job due to redundancy.
It's the big wigs at the top that always stay.
Fuck them.
I feel for you.
America has nothing but hypocrits living in it.
Why people keep coming I'll never know.
People go to America because the minimum wage (reaaaaly minimum generic work slave wage) it's enough to live (infra human conditions at the star) and save money for home
Home in another country were the dollar has more value
