Technical difficulties · 6:27am May 20th, 2018
Because things go as they do, my laptop decided to breathe it’s last on me tonight. I am not 100% certain it’s dead, but all my amateur testing leads me to believe it’s logic board fried. I’m going to crack her open Monday and see if there is anything I can do, then start the search for a replacement I can just swap drives into.
Seeing as how I run on Macs, that may be a bit tough. So, for the near future, no updates from me unless I break down and get a Bluetooth keyboard for my tablet, which I am opposed to because I don’t like having to haul a bunch of tech peripherals with me. My tablet is supposed to be just for light reading and surfing and using it would mean getting in WiFi and using the native text box here...which is iffy as my writing is concerned.
So, here’s to the hunt for a MacBook less than five years old for a reasonable price. Though I’d take a desktop one as well.
What’s the problem? Are you booting to a white screen with a “?” Mark?

The fans start to spin up and then it gives the power kill squeak and returns to offline. Not even making it to the chime or power to the screen at all.

I would try to attempt one of these types of resets if at all possible to see if it helps anything at all... assuming you already haven’t tried.
If those don’t work and there is an Apple Store near you then you can’t take it in(make an appointment or go early) and they will be able to troubleshoot for free.
Seems Macs and PÇs both can melt down. Sometimes you can find a deal on fleabay but caveat emptor.
Yeah, my toshbia of 11 years still works but I needed something newer. I searched Craigslist and found quite a few apple products for under 300 bucks. I'm a non apple person myself, but a lead to help is what I can do.

Tried both, no responses. I kiss the days when you could pop the battery out and do a board reset that way.

I would see if a nearby Apple store can check it out. I work at one myself and they will let you know for sure if it’s dead or if there is something that could be done.
Also at the bottom of Apple.com they have refurbished macs that come with the same warranty as new ones. They would be as cheap as a 5 year old one but just letting you know
