Saying Goodbye · 5:45am Oct 25th, 2012
A month ago, I lost someone close to my heart. She was faithful, loyal, loving, and taken from this world way too early. Her name was Emma, and she was a beautiful little cuddlebug of a yellow tabby.
Her health had been slowly declining, and one evening, she went down hill fast. There was only one emergency vet open at midnight, and it was over an hour drive there. Sadly, it was too late. The end came too suddenly. Within a few moments, she was slipping away. I was petting her, and she gave one final stretch, as cats do when content, then she was gone.
We found a box for her, and she was wrapped in my favorite shirt. Her favorite toys were placed with her, and a small handfull of food was set in a little dish in the box with her. Lastly, so maybe she could have someone to fly with her to the next realm, I placed my Rainbow Dash figurine in with her. As loyal a pet she was, it just seemed right that the Element of Loyalty should travel with her.
We buried her under a lylac tree, so that her spirit may enjoy their beauty every spring, and we said our final goodbyes. When we left, though the sun still shone upon us, it started raining, as if to was away the tears. Or maybe, it was her way to tell us that, like the spring rains that bring the new beginnings, life goes on.
As we get back to town, while stopped at a red light, I look back. In the sky, directly over Emma's final resting place, is a double rainbow. Thank you Dash. Thank you for watching over her for me.
Ouch man, I'm not one for mushy sayings so I have to say something 'manly'; Life's a Bitch and Then you Die
Wow, sorry to hear that.
