Status of "Broken Mirror" · 12:41am Feb 13th, 2018
Much as I hate to do this, Broken Mirror is going on a temporary Hiatus. Now, usually when you see "Hiatus" on a story that means its doomed to not update for at least a year, if ever. I will not let Broken Mirror go that way. I planned to-- and still plan to-- have this story finished by this summer, as I'll be heading to China and will have plenty else on my plate then.
So, what does "Hiatus" mean for this story? It means that I made a promise of weekly updates that will not be fulfilled. I've had an extremely busy schedule this past week (I have 3 exams to take this week, on top of various projects due), and whenever I've had free time I've found myself feeling generally depressed and in no mood for writing. While I want to keep the promise that I made, it would be to the detriment of my grades and my mental health, something I'm just not willing to trade.
However, my workload will lighten after next week and, very soon after that, I'll have an entire week off for Spring Break. Hopefully by then I'll be in a better place with both my work and my own mental health, and I'll be able to pump out a nice buffer of chapters so that nothing like this happens again. Hopefully I'll even produce enough that I can make up for this temporary hiatus with some twice-a-week updates. No promises, of course, seeing as I've already broken one already...
Again, I'm sorry to be doing this, especially so soon after the story has started. If I ever make a schedule promise again, I'll make sure I have a sufficient buffer of chapters ready to back it up. Wish you all the best.

Considering they're "sisters" in this story, if somewhat begrudgingly and not in an actual genetic way, that's going to be a solid no. Plenty of relationship building between them, but it'll never hit anything romantic.
As for other possible relationships, I'd definitely lean towards "no", but in the long term one or two pairings might show up (and by long-term I mean in-Equestria-sequel levels of long term), but I can say with certainty that it wouldn't be Sunlight in any form, much as I actually like that pairing.
No problem, and it sounds like you have learned your lesson about buffer chapters to support promises like that so you should be in better shape in the future.

I'm open to any and all suggestions, though I really doubt much would come of ship suggestions for a long time if ever in "Broken Mirror". I've always had a softspot for crackships, though, so even if they don't end up in the story I might be inspired to make a one-shot or something out of them.

Fair enough, and since you asked I came up with a spectacularly nonsensical pairing for you. Discord and Roseluck. You've got a bit of flexibility since she's a background pony, but if you can somehow make Ms. Scream-And-Faint work with the spirit of chaos I'll be very impressed.

I've been struggling to get everything together and have been procrastinating horribly on starting the story up again. I have a half written chapter that shouldn't take too long to complete if I just sit down and do it. I might finally do that tomorrow or Sunday, in which case a new chapter can be expected on Monday. If not, I should have it out by Wednesday. If it isn't out by then, well, please pester the crap out of me.
After that chapter is out I'll aim for weekly updates, but I can't guarantee them. I might delay an update so that I can write a oneshot or two, or I might just be busy a particular week, or I might just be being a lazy bum again. Once I write this next chapter, though, I hope I'll be back into the swing of things.

The pestering is much appreciated, though "by Wednesday" to me means "by (the end of) Wednesday". I've been busier than I thought I would be, and I've also been playing too much Europa Universalis... but I just finished going back through and doing minor edits to the previous chapters and am now working on finishing off the next one. If it isn't up by 11:59pm EST, then I have brought shame upon my family.
