Cortex Command, Free on Steam · 12:26pm Feb 3rd, 2018

Don't know much about this one, but I've heard it described as one of those games you either love and play two hundred hours easy... or recoil in disgust hissing like a cat five minutes in.

So, yeah. Anyway, can't argue with free, and the offer lasts this weekend out.

I've played this one like fifteen years ago, when it was still stuck in its endless vaporware development stage. I don't know how much it has evolved since then, but let's just say I wasn't too terribly impressed. There's this ancient German game called Clonk that basically did all the same things even 30 years ago, but better and with oodles of free content and development history behind it.

Oh well, can still give it another shot, I guess.

To the devs credit, I've heard this one of those games that was really 'meh' at start, but's gotten so much post-launch polishing it's barely the same game anymore.

So hopefully it's a more enjoyable experience the second time around.

It kinda looks more like rent for the weekend

Nah, nab it now, and it's yours.

Know the the phrasing 'free for a limited time' tripped me up to the first time, though.

Otherwise it would say: 'Play for free! Ends in X day and Y hours' like Fallout 4 is doing right now.

Edit: You don't even have to download it. Just hit install, cancel, and a new, shiny key is still tied to your Steam account.

Ok then, might as well.
