RIP power supply · 5:16am Jan 29th, 2018
Okay so, the thing I was working on to release this month? Not gonna happen, but this time it's because of an equipment failure. Right now I'm on my 12 year old laptop instead of my 2 year old monster, because the monster laptop's power supply seems to have completely shit the bed. It won't start up, and whenever I connect it to power there's a crackling noise and whiff of ozone. I'm hoping the power supply is just fried and everything will be fine after I replace it, but I'm aware of a possibility that the hard drive might have gone with it, or hell the entire thing might be bricked altogether for all I know. There's no warranty left to break on it so I'll be taking it to a local shop tomorrow and hoping for the best. Fortunately, even in the worst case scenario no progress on Reunion was lost, but it will mean the thing I was going to post this month is going to start over for the third damn time. I'm pondering backing all my writing up to googledocs from now on just for such an occasion as this in the future. For now though I'm slowly getting access to all my stuff back on this old computer, and watching... youtube I guess, because that's about ALL this old thing can handle. Will keep you all posted as the situation progresses.
That's a bummer to hear. Though, instead of GoogleDocs, why not an external hard drive? That way, in the slight chance Google's servers crash, you'll still have your work.

I was planning on basically writing stuff in open office, and then copy pasting to google docs at the end of every session so I would have a cloud backup. I've got bad experiences with external hard drives that keep failing on me, but getting another one is still not a bad idea. I'll have to ask my computer guy what would be a good one to buy after I finish buying my new desktop now that the laptop is confirmed KIA.

First off, I'm sorry to hear about your laptop. That sucks.
Secondly, I'd say get something with the storage space of 1TB. Because for the cost, it'd have a better chance of a long life expectancy.
