Moth Plays Dragonball Xenoverse, Episode 4: Panic on Namek! Kinoa Vs the Ginyu Force! · 2:06am Jan 7th, 2018

Welcome back!

So I'm having so much fun with Xenoverse, obviously I'd already decided I wanted to get Xenoverse 2. Then I remembered it was still on sale in the big PSN sale. It'll have to be my last game purchase for a while because I really need to save up for a Switch, but at $35 for the game plus the season pass? Totally worth it.

Today's coverage: Kinoa gains a new mentor, Kinoa goes on some Parallel Quests, and Kinoa takes on the Ginyu Force!

So as I begin my next play session, a few new options have opened up to me, including the option to become the student of a major character, which has certain gameplay benefits. The first character I wandered up to once this was available was Piccolo, so I went with Piccolo. The battle against Piccolo was a little shaky since I took a break from the game for a day while I was still adjusting to the controls, but I passed the test and got a new super attack out of it!

I can now also play in either Online or Offline lobby mode. For now, I'm staying in Offline mode, where other players' characters appear as NPCs I can recruit for teams. That's...honestly kind of a weird feature. I mean, either way you're connected to the game server? :rainbowhuh:

This time, I recorded some Parallel Quest gameplay. As you can see, when I'm dealing with multiple opponents and the Gate system, I'm shaky as hell, but that's not just this game--I kinda have that problem with a lot of fast-paced games like this. :twilightsheepish:

It's worth noting that I have sufficient funds at this point to do some shopping at the clothing store, but have elected not to because why change the perfect Sunset Shimmer look I'm rocking? But just for the hell of it, let's look at a couple of the accessories available:

There's more, I might buy them and model them later. In the meantime, I did at least change to a cooler-looking scouter:

My scouter's the one that says 'Bad Motherfucker' on it.

Anyway, after locking down a couple more Parallel Quests, I decided to go on the next Time Mission, which is where we'll end things today.

I won't lie. I had trouble with this next one. I actually failed it a couple of times. :applecry:

On Namek, we run into the Ginyu Force, and Ginyu's body-swapping hijinks are getting crazier than ever! But we're here to make sure history stays on its proper course. Except...what's going on with Vegeta?

Episode 4: Panic on Namek! Kinoa Vs. The Ginyu Force!

Rikuum is defeated, but this chaos is far from over. What's going to happen next? Find out next time, on Moth Plays Dragonball Xenoverse!

To round out today's blog, have a couple of random screencaps of online players' characters I ran into as NPCs:

Now that's a cute character!

Some people are just...really unimaginative...

And some people are very creative!

See ya next fight!

It's so weird seeing his name spelled as Rikuum

It is. It's a FUN game. Flawed, but fun. And the controls feel tighter and you can't just pick Male Saiyan and spam 3 light attacks and 2 heavy for an infinite combo.

The battle against Piccolo was a little shaky since I took a break from the game for a day while I was still adjusting to the controls, but I passed the test and got a new super attack out of it!

It's worth it. You eventually get the Special Beam Cannon. It's a DAMN good Ult. It's fast, it's strong, and it CANNOT BE BLOCKED.

My scouter's the one that says 'Bad Motherfucker' on it.

I understood that reference.
