Progress on the last chapters for Failed Confessions (ending a story is hard and a thank you to readers) · 4:07pm Dec 18th, 2017

Eyy!

Consistency is always a thing I like to have with my stories. And, as a hobby, I think I have been doing a good job of being somewhat consistent. Still, I prefer to stick to a schedule when I clearly don't know how to stick to it... Before I rant about how easily distracted I can get, let's get to what really matters: Failed Confessions.

I will be straightforward as to why there has been a delay on Failed Confessions: ending a story is hard, at least in my opinion. I can create interesting concepts for a story. However, when it comes to tying up loose ends and trying to have it all make sense, that is where the challenge takes place. No, there will be no sequel, which is why this is much harder. At least I am trying to end it before the year's end.

The journey to starting this story to finishing it has been a year-long endeavor. I started writing this story last year during the 2016 Writer's Month challenge. Here is the blog discussing the beginning of Failed Confessions: https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/688529/50000-words-in-a-month-can-i-do-it

The reason why I waited for so long to upload this story is the same excuse I give for all my stories: I want to be at least halfway finished with a story before posting it to have a good flow of chapters at the beginning. And now, I can finally close this book and move on. Failed Confessions has been a great experience while also a learning one as well. Believe this or not, Failed Confessions was supposed to be much longer. However, as I said in the previous sentence, I learned to not stretch out a story for too long. I want to keep my readers on something that hooks them, not having endless exposition.

Which brings me to my thank you to my readers. I do want to thank everyone for commenting and giving feedback, be it a "good job, keep it up" comment, to constructive critisizm. I know that critisizing a reader can be intimidating, and some may fear others may jump down their throat for having a less than popular opinion. Don't be afraid of pointing out something that may be considered a flaw in my story. I am striving to become a better writer, and the only way to improve is to see the good as well as the bad.

In usual fashion, here are the readers I wish to thank for commenting: CloudyStar6, BronyNovos, Blank Page, OmniFox, Starlight Nova, i_am_the_jam, Silver Topaz, Sky Blazer, TexasDragon1995 (the one and only), Geraldiamond, Bluecatcinima, Bebx (Bestiebest as I remember you by), DarkHooves, OConnerGT-R, Tide Hunter, and Lord Legion. Thank you all for leaving your thoughts that will forever be judged by the world :3

So... when will the next chapter be? Give me at most another week at most before being treated with the ending. I want to duel upload two chapters to conclude Failed Confessions; a final chapter and epilogue. Endings should go out with a bang, or at least a well-done conclusion. I am more than halfway with the "last chapter" and the epilogue will tie up some loose ends with Quarter Hearts (yes, Sky Blazer, the Quarter Hearts ark was supposed to continue on and not be some one-time joke).

Give it some time, everyone. And I apologize for the delay. I just think I owe a good end, yes?

Keep your eyes open for that "Completed" tag for Failed Confessions to an Oblivious Friend.

Freak, out.
