Minor Tweak to Twilight's Card in My Little Planeswalker · 10:55am Oct 11th, 2017
Previously, on My Little Planeswalker, Twilight Sparkle’s card had this text:
Twilight Sparkle, Alicorn Ascendant 1URW
Legendary Planeswalker — Twilight
+1: Tap up to one target creature. Up to one other target creature gains prowess until end of turn.
-2: Discard a card, then draw two cards.
-6: You get an emblem with “whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell from your hand, you may return that card to your hand as it resolves” and “you have no maximum hand size.”4
However, I’ve decided to make a couple changes. The first is to the card name, which would be necessary to cut down on card space on a real card. The second change is to a couple of the abilities. Flavor-wise, I don’t think it’s especially fitting that Twilight has no abilities that can damage creatures, given that she clearly has offensive magic.
Balance-wise, I think it’s best she has at least one ability to protect herself, but I also think it’s best to bump her ultimate up by one loyalty. While it’s not as powerful as Tamiyo’s ultimate, it’s still really powerful, and this is on top of the fact that Twilight costs one less mana. I’ve also reduced the cost of her “discard, then draw” ability since it doesn’t actually gain that much more card advantage than a standard “draw a card” ability. So, because of all this, I’ve changed the card to have tweaked abilities. The new version is below:
Twilight, Alicorn Ascendant 1URW
Legendary Planeswalker — Twilight
+1: Twilight deals 1 damage to up to one target creature. Up to one other target creature gains prowess until end of turn.
-1: Discard a card, then draw two cards.
-7: You get an emblem with “whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell from your hand, you may return that card to your hand as it resolves” and “you have no maximum hand size.”4
That is a nicely potent bookhorse. No complaints on my end.
May I ask for the official reason why her TTU is one turn longer? I imagine it's because her uptick is a bit more powerful now, so it's to address a balance issue, but I also try not to do spec whenever possible...
There a computer program that allows you to make your own MTG card set. I would love for someone to actually make these cards and a set to go with them and raffle them off as a prize. I would so enter that contest in a heart beat.

The +1 is more useful at removing problem creatures. Making her ultimate take two turns to charge instead of three would likely push it too far in the powerful direction to be balanced.
well... nothing is stopping you to create a different card of the same character and put different effect in them (depending of the deck type)
I disagree with your change to the second ability. Discard 1 and draw 2 is incredibly powerful on its own but giving it -2 is probably dependent on the rest of the card, so let's take a look at it:
The ulti isn't quite as powerful as Tamiyo, I agree. It is still super strong especially in R and U. In W not as much but still fine when you put your mind to it. I think -7 for it is fair when looked at in a vacuum.
The +1 ability is ... basically 2 abilitys if you ask me. So it is not only super strong but also incredibly versatile. (Though personally I am not a big fan of prowess in general but that is beside the point.) For that ability I would almost be prepared to pay -1 actually.
The only real drawback I can see is that she is technically tier 3 as it uses 3 mana of different color.
If you left the card as it is, I think the -1 is not drawback enough for the effect it gives. She doesn't protect herself very effectively but it the +1 and -1 abilities cancel each other out so you dont go any closer to her death while not only generating card advantage but also increase the value of the cards you do draw. (Turn 8+ discard a land or otherwise dead card in the match-up to draw 2 cards for practically nothing is a wet dream for a control deck.)
So my idea would be to
EITHER put put up the price on that second ability again
OR increase her manacost and make her current second ability her first aka +1 ability (with the added wording of "you may discard, if you do draw 2"). In that case you probably have to rework her then second ability
OR you decrease her starting loyalty (and subsequently her ult) therefore making using her second ability into a bit more of a risk.
Last thought: The way she is right now there is nothing white in her abilities: the first is RU, the second is R and the third is U. To be fair up until season 3 I would have put Twilight as R/U anyways.
As for "My Little Planeswalker" I love it, keep it up. There are not enough good MtG-crossovers here and yours promises all the good things.

I can get what you’re saying here, but I’d actually disagree because Twilight’s abilities and color combination are not particularly well-suited to control decks. The best kind of deck her abilities would work with are Jeskai Tempo decks, and not only do those almost never run any card with a converted mana cost above three, they also have an overabundance of ways to take maximum advantage of cards regardless (Opt, Serum Visions, Cantrips, etc.) If you’re playing Twilight and have gotten to the point where you’re at turn 8+ without having used her ultimate already, you’ve done something very wrong and are probably going to lose.
Her -1 also synergizes particularly poorly with her +1 since prowess encourages you to empty your hand of spells at every opportunity, meaning you’re less likely to have a good card to pitch for it if you’re playing to Twilight’s strengths.
