I just acheived a very old childhood dream of mine. · 9:33pm Apr 21st, 2023
So, many of you might not know or really care, but yesterday something happened that I honestly never in my life expected to happen.
If you've seen my past blog post, you might have realized that I've become somewhat involved in Neopets again. I re-joined the site back in 2017 or so thanks to a mutual friend on Tumblr, but sort of dropped off until a site hack forced me to change my password earlier this year. I've since been sucked back into logging on daily, and during that time I decided to try something on a whim: writing a story submission for the Neopian Times.
For those who don't know what that is, Neopets has had a sort of fake newspaper that is, in reality, a sort of official fan zine. Users can submit informational articles about the site, short stories set in the site's main world of Neopia, or multi-chapter stories (called "series"). There are some rather strict guidelines (everything has to be rated PG and there are some things you can't do with its world and characters), but it's effectively a way of getting fanfiction officially published on the site itself. Get a submission in, and you'll get a neat trophy on your user page.
I bring this up because ever since I was a preteen I've always wanted to try to submit something, but never quite had the skill or the motivation to really try... until now. And wouldn't you know it, my story got in!

The story is six chapters total, and the Neopian Times updates biweekly, so you'll see the remaining chapters appearing regularly on the Neopian Times in the "continued series" section every two weeks starting from today. Typically new issues are released between 4 and 6 PM EST, so keep an eye out!
Congrats, Zenn!
Nice!
Goodness, I remember the time I submitted something to the Times. That was... an uncomfortable number of years ago, if I'm being honest. Congratulations!
Haha, that’s cool!
Nice work and goodonya for reaching that!
