"Changing of the Sun" Postmortem · 1:42pm Aug 28th, 2017
Hi everyone! I just wanted to drop you a quick line regarding "The Changing of the Sun," which just posted its final chapter today.
First off, a huge "thank you" to everyone who read and commented. As always, it means a lot--especially in the case of this story.
Believe it or not, "The Changing Of The Sun" was immensely difficult for me to write. I don't want to complain too much, but let's just say that even getting this out the door was quite a struggle. Plus, as I said, I'm still trying to get out of writing ponyfic, so I can focus on school and my non-pony writing. Short version: though the requests for a sequel/more chapters makes me immensely happy, don't hold your breath for a continuation. I'm not sure I'm up to writing a sequel, and I'm happy with where I've left it anyways.
Of course, this would be the first fic of mine to crack the "featured" box, because of course it is. 
One scene I was worried about was in Chapter 2, the egg-laying scene. Body-horror aside, I was worried that the way Rarity talked about it--like a human-like menstrual period--would ruffle some feathers (I even had a blog post prepared!). However, it seems like most people were okay with it--or, at least, no one has started a flamewar yet 
So: what happens next? Well, I'm working on one more fic, which will likely end up being a one-shot as well: I'm turning Celestia XVII into a full fic, featuring headstrong teenage Celestia butting heads with her strict, traditionalist great-aunt Luna. In fact, I even got some cover art made 
I'm excited for this one, as it's been burning a hole in my brain for months, and it's been a ton of fun to write. I'm hoping to have it ready to go within the next week or two, but, then again, school just started, and it keeps on getting bigger and bigger...
One question for you guys: in this fic, Celestia is a high school senior in Canterlot, while Twilight and the Mane 6 are all in Ponyville. Do you guys have any suggestions for Celestia's school friends? Maybe even a crush?

Thanks for the suggestion! However, I have Twilight pegged as more of a sidekick than a love interest--and I'm no good at writing same-gender ships, anyways.

Oo, that would be fun... but I was still planning on having him as the sealed-away God of Chaos from S2.
Right now, I have Celestia the same age as Twilight's "Canterlot Friends" from Amending Fences (Twinkleshine, Lemonhearts, Minuette), with Moon Dancer either the same age as Twilight or just older. Not sure who else is a) in Canterlot, and b) late teens/young adult...
And Shiny is several years older, already working as a Palace Guard (if not actually Captain yet)

Hey--one idea I've had for the (probably not happening) sequel would be the Canterlot Wedding--where Celestia herself is marrying Shiny! And they have a daughter named Cadance!
...that's not weird, is it?
Other Wedding candidates include: Shiny marrying Pegasus Cadance, and asshole playboy Blueblood finally finding the mare of his dreams.
Again, almost certainly not happening--but it's still fun to speculate :)

Yeah, it was pretty clear you weren't going to do anything about the egg-laying when it literally never came up again ever, so we just shrugged and considered it just marking off a box of "things that happen in this fic".
I do hope there's a sequel in the works if not oh well.
