    April, with many a day…

So I just spent from the third through today (sort of, still have some driving to do) on holiday. Went to Dallas to see the Eclipse in totality, swung though Hot Springs for… well, the hot springs, and finally St Louis for a lovely riverboat dinner before bidding the Boyfriend farewell and starting the trip home.

    Well, I started it...

All Good Things... has commenced. I may have a chapter of it up tonight.

I really want to start closing out the unfinished stories, but sometimes you just can't get back into the flow for them. Sorceress and the Siren is one, Into the Wilds is another. Which is sad cause I love writing Azure.

    Homecoming, in retrospect.

Homecoming as a series is a glorious mess. I’ve gone on short bits of fluff, created some … unique ships, twisted the fabric of canon EqG, and even touched on some dark topics.

    Don't you just hate it...

When you can't find something when you need to?

Case in point, I went looking for a comment where they alluded to It being like Frodo saving the Shire for everyone but himself and had to sail to another land to find solace.

But I can't remember what fic or anything else.

    And it's frustrating to me.

    Meanwhile, in other news...

    For those wondering....

    I am working on Truth.

“What are you doing here?” Sunset stammered as she gazed at her father. Emotions swirled inside of her, a maelstrom of feelings. Confusion, certainly. Some anger, long-simmered and cooled into bitterness. A bit of joy, but just a tiny bit.

    Mostly confusion though.

Red rubbed the back of his neck. “It’s a long story,” he hedged.

Commissions, requests, and wtf are you doing with your life · 3:24pm Aug 23rd, 2017

Ok, I see a lot of people - mostly through social media - asking me if they could request a story, commission a story or reading, or ask me where I expect to go with fan fiction.

Tl/Dr: no, no, and rather far if you consider 50 Shades a legitimate success.

Frankly, I have no problem doing something as a request, White Day was a request for a ship from one of my followers that apparently didn't exist prior to now. I was glad to write it because it was a challenge to find a way for Dash and Moondancer to meet and why they would even be more than a friend ship. That's why I entered the Sunset Shipping contest and hope to finish my AppleDash entry in the next day or two. Challenges are a good way to hone my writing like a whetstone. I think people forget sometimes that I am working on original fiction as well.

I generally turn down requests for PriTwiSet stories or Twuna because there are already a glut of them here.

Though Twuna is growing on me. It's going to be my next major project after Insurgence and will deal with that and an amnesiac Pegasus.

Commissions are a bit more tricky subject. Accepting money or trades for a fiction is something I don't have any experience in because I believe it has to be worth what I'm getting out of it. For example, I wouldn't consider Cruising a fair trade for something like The Skyla Pseudonym or anything by Jay the Brony or even my collaborator and co-conspirator BlackWater.

I really don't. It takes me on average three to four hours to write out one of my one shots and that's if I know exactly where I'm going with it. Around the same for chapters. It's part of the reason I don't regularly do longer one shot stories, because I don't always have more time to write and edit - I work in food service, catering to be precise and to use yesterday as an example, I worked a wedding reception that racked up 10 miles and 24k steps in all the glory of the Maryland summer heat. Last night all I wanted was a hot bath and sleep, there was no writing in me to write or edit. I do have a couple of wonderful colleagues on here that have graciously donated their time for the last three major five and the Shipping fics, and I am eternally grateful.

That said, I can't help but wonder if making an omnibus edition of The Homecoming continuity in chronological order with an exclusive story would be worth the publishing venture...food for thought.

Sometime today expect an update on Insurgence and maybe a peek at my AppleDash entry.
