'Past, Present, and Future' Rewrite News - What's Changing? · 1:27am Aug 23rd, 2017

Yeeeaaaahhh, I know I've been pretty silent recently, only popping up to reply to a comment or two every so often. I'm really sorry about that. Don't hurt me...
Full disclosure, work on the rewrite has been agonizingly slow, not just with work getting in the way, but also my own procrastination. Sidenote: Overwatch is pretty fun. That doesn't mean I've completely forgotten about my stories. In fact, the break from both PP&F and MLP has actually helped inspire me a bit.
So since I've been so quite, I thought I'd fill you guys in on some of the changes I've made/got planned, so here goes:
The broad overall basics, Zack being a brony, appearing in the past, traveling to the future, reuniting with the Princesses, fighting the villian, Sombra, will be completely the same. The general plot won't be touched too much, with two exceptions. It's mostly just the details I wanted to adjust, ranging from a spit-shine, to a complete overhaul.
One prominent detail I want to tweak is the time Zack spent in the past. In the current version, I believe he only had like 5 months to adjust to the pony world and learn all the things he did. As an older comment once pointed out, that seemed extremely unlikely. After all, if Zack is going to be a powerful unicorn able to keep up with the likes of Starswirl and Twilight, he's gonna need more time than that, though I also don't want to turn him into an old man stallion. The exact amount of time that passes hasn't been finalized yet, but the current idea was about 4 or 5 years, give or take. So arrival when he was 20 (yep, changed that too), then at the point the story takes place in the future, he's roughly 24-25.
One of the plot changes I mentioned earlier I'd actually consider more of a plot addition. After letting my old story sit for a couple years, I went back and reread it for inspiration in the new version, and that's when I realized not only how bad it is, but also just how little conflict there is in the beginning. It seemed like anything that happened to pop up was just magically fixed shortly thereafter (pun intended). So this addition will add to and spread out chapters 3-13 (from meeting Tia to fighting the storm). It could possibly even add a number of new chapters. Of course Smith will still make an appearance about halfway through it, but the All-Knowing-Reveal will most likely be put off until sometime after the storm rather than only chapter bucking 6, less than a quarter of the way through what the original story was supposed to be! Why did I think that was a good idea?!
The other plot change was the whole confusing bit happening in the last couple chapters of my old version. I haven't completely ironed out what I want in it's place yet, or if I'm simply gonna remove it entirely. That was admittedly something I thought of as a spur of the moment thing to keep interest or draw in more interest, but it ended up being a bit too confusing both for some readers and for myself.
Those are the most important changes so far. I can't guarantee when it'll be done, but I do promise that when I have enough work put into it, I will be releasing a couple previews, teasers of sorts, as temporary chapters on the original. Again, can't promise when those will be out, but I can say that the first one will be about how Zack discovered Smith was a changeling! It's about 70% done and I'm sure you'll all enjoy it.

Quick question. Sorry if it's dumb. But if youre gonna rewrite this story. Sill it be uploaded separately from this one? Or will it takr the olace of this one? I just recently stumbled across this story. And I really like it so far. But I dont want to get attached to it if its gonna disappear.

The current version of the story will still be here. It's just going to have the big bad "Canceled" tag on it and no more chapters will be released for it, so if you don't mind reading through a story with no ending, by all means, it'll stay on the site forever. The rewritten version will be uploaded as a separate story and will actually have an ending.

Looks like we are probably not gonna see the revised story at all. And honestly that's okay cause what we have right now is incredible and despite it being incomplete.
