I wrote this short comedy (just over 1,000 words), inspired by "Triple Threat."
My inspiration was an explanation as to just why Spike acted like such an idiot in that episode.
Enjoy.
I'm a long time science fiction and animation fan who stumbled into My Little Pony fandom and got caught -- I guess I'm a Brony Forever now.

The simple answer is "Because as a male character on an American television program of more or less comedic nature, he is contractually obligated to behave as if he is missing key chromosomes."
Well... if you ask me, the only really stupid thing Spike did was not trusting his friends. Ember gets upset and angry with little provocation (she nearly attacked one of the trumpet ponies!), Thorax is still the insecure dork inside despite his new size...
There was no reason to expect them to bond so quickly. Especially Ember. If anything, I'm surprised how quickly they made friends with each other.

Nah. Twilight had moments like this, Starlight had them, even Applejack missed the point by a mile by making their tradtional family gathering totally unfun in the spirit of "efficiency".

It seems that the person usually left holding the Idiot Ball depends on the writer. At least only one pony consistently holds the Jerkass Ball: Chris "Filthy Sadist" Savino's 'gift' to the fandom, Trixie Loudlamoon.
