    Soon!

I think I've used that blog title three or four times now.

Anyway! New chapter of Spectacular Seven is almost done! I was hoping it would be done this week so I could post it on Saturday, but I need to rewrite a scene. And that's before I edit it! And before Drakey edits it! The good news is...

    Ten Years, Still Here

I think back to my nascent days here, reading stories and typing out my own, hoping for the day where I could call myself a veteran of the fandom. My stories would be remembered and I would stand alongside authors like Pen stroke and Aragon.

And I look where I am now and go, ‘well, you got one big hit. Good enough.’

    Thank You

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the GoFundMe or spread the word for it. It really means a lot. Thanks to your donations and getting a little more on my first paycheck than I thought I would, I should be able to stay afloat again.

My Turn to Ask for Help

    Hello friends.

I'm trying to raise money for me and Amber Spark after we suffered an accident with a U-Haul truck. The link to the GoFundMe page is here.

End of the Month Progress: June · 8:10pm Jun 30th, 2017

Summer begins, and it's not just the temperature rising! My word count is going up as well! Off my slump and into the fire! It's time for a Summer of Sunset!

Get my usual monthly ramblings below!

Word count, Sunny!

As of right now, 20,921. But the day isn't over.

Indeed it's not! I can still get some words in to push it to 21, maybe even 22k. Not bad since I had a late start this month. I'd like to thank Novel-Idea for kicking me back into shape, and everyone in the nook for being awesome! The fire has been re-lit! And thanks to a new installation that blocks distracting web pages for 30 minutes every hour, I have less distractions when I'm writing. That alone helped me crank out 3k two days in a row.

So, let me break things down. I'll start with the general, then move into story details. I'm doing pretty good! I've got plenty of new friends to talk to thanks to Novel, which is why I need that page blocker, otherwise I'd get nothing done. I've been running and exercising again to keep in shape and to help the ideas flow. If I don't get up and go for a walk or run, then most days I'm just sitting on the couch, and I can't do that, I'll go stir crazy.

This'll pretty much be the norm for the rest of summer. School doesn't start till late September, and I'm bouncing around the west coast too much for me to get a job. Thankfully, I have just enough money to buy a few things from the Summer Steam Sale! I've already sworn to myself though, 1,000 words first, then video games.

I still haven't seen the Equestria Girl Specials, but I'll watch them soon and of course make follow-ups for them. I have seen the Movie trailer! I am still processing it. The story looks interesting, and I love Tempest and the Storm King. But the animation, I have mixed feelings on. They're blending well shaded 2D with 3D backgrounds and it looks... weird. Of course I;m gonna see it, and oh man, is that follow-up gonna be long.

Let's talk stories!

I've just finished a chapter of Across the Shimmering Sea and it's the longest one yet, clocking in at 7k. I'll start editing this weekend, so it should be up next week. The following chapter shouldn't be too far behind it.

Now, July is apparently Camp Nanowrimo. It's like the normal one, only you get to set your own word count and join little 'cabins' for inspiration and advice. I've decided to join and use that as an excuse to focus on writing Volume II of Spectacular Seven. It's now fully planned out, but, I've decided I want to write out the whole volume first to make sure it flows well and make any necessary changes to the overall plot. Everything that happens here pretty much builds the foundation for the rest of the story. So, Sunset won't be seen for a bit, but when it's done, you guys will have a steady release of chapters every week for at least a few months. If my momentum keeps up, I could have it ready by November or December.

My magum opus (in my eyes) Class Zero is entering its final development phase. Once I put the finishing touches on the plot outline, I'm going to start recruiting an elite team of editors to help me put it together. Since I'm focusing on SS this coming month, August will be dedicated to that. I want to release it in September to coincide with my own starting of school. I want to start hyping this now because I think this is going to be my best project to date. While it won't be the last story I start, I want it to be the last story I finish here.

Me and the lovely Monochromatic are still set to work on a collaboration, but she is a busy bee, so that won't be seen for a bit. Be excited though, because I am!

In a last minute decision, I've decided to join Jake-the-army-guys Obscure Shipping Contest. Will I win? Probably not, but I've never done a contest on here before, and this one seems like it could be fun without destroying my self-esteem! So, expect a sudden one-shot in the very near future.

I thought you said you were never going to write one-shots ever again?

I say a lot of things!

I'm still going to work on a Breath of the Wild crossover, but I think I want to see the movie first. Seaponies play a part in my story, and I want to see if there's any important lore I should include.

And finally... it kills me to say this but... I'm shelving Childish Killer until further notice. Forgive me, Coco. I think part of the reason I lost my drive was because I was trying so hard to write this story when... I dunno, I guess my heart just isn't as into it as I thought. It's hard to explain, but I talked it over with Novel and he helped me break it down. I just couldn't write it, and I couldn't write anything else because I told myself I wasn't allowed to until I finished it. That somehow led to a long spiral of my self-esteem. Sooooo, yeah. No more of that. Maybe someday, but not now.

I don't want to be, but, maybe I'm a one-trick pony after all. Ah well, at least I'm known for something. Come on, Sunset. We got words to write.

Finally, something to do!

Catch you guys later!

Time to get serious!

Addendum! Final word count: 25,015! 4k in one day! Whooo!

Glad to hear you're doing well and I wish you luck going forward on your writing and everyday life. And I'm sure you're not a one-trick pony. I have trouble writing things when I have so much going around in my head, so maybe once you've finished some projects and clear your head a bit some of your others works like Childish Killer will be able to flourish. Looking forward to all your work!

I can send you a link if you want.

Yeah, if a story isn't working for you, there's no shame in putting it aside until inspiration strikes again. Although, something to consider for the future, when you do want to get back to this: The best source of inspiration I can recommend is the Detective Conan anime, which you can watch over 100 episodes of free on Crunchyroll (under the title "Case Closed"). It's probably a good reference in general, since Detective Conan references/draws inspiration from pretty much every mystery writer ever.

Plus, it's a hell of a good way to kill some quality veg time. ^_^

It really is amazing how much of a difference getting out and running can make. And that's from someone who detests running!

You'll deffinitely have your work cut out for you on the contest! Last night I read one that was Tom/Boulder, and let's just say that'll be hard to beat :trollestia:

Always looking forward to whatever you have for Spectacular Seven, as well as Class Zero, but you've really caught my eye with that mention of BoTW! I've been surprised for a while that I couldn't find any crossovers with it, but at least now I know that not only will one exist soon, but I know it'll be a good one!

Oh damn, Sunset took off her coat! I'm out of here! (Exits room)

Uh... okay? Other than that, we look forward to your Equestria Girls Specials Follow ups! I assume (hopefully) you haven't seen any spoilers regarding the specials? Have fun!!

It's always good to hear when someone just feels better and has things going on the right way. Good luck on July Albi!

Obligatory comment on how hyped I am for Across the Shimmering Sea. :yay: I can't wait for the next chapter.

All your projects sound fantastic. I don't think you are a one trick pony; probably, you just have been trapped by Sunset's charms as bad as I have. Can't read or write anything if it's not about her. :pinkiecrazy: It will pass, maybe?

Great to see you and Saltset Shimmer are getting back in the game.

In a last minute decision, I've decided to join Jake-the-army-guys Obscure Shipping Contest.

Ayyyy, good luck, dude!

Best of luck, my dude!! it's great that you're getting that fire back in ya! :D
