    IN WHICH HAPPY BOXING DAY!
I meant to post while it was still Christmas (CST) but as usual I’m late. I hope my few remaining readers had a lovely holiday! Here’s a song that’s been in my head lately.

Chuu is one of those who, according to her coworkers, really is just a ball of sunshine. Follow me past the jump.

    IN WHICH I LACK BURRITOS
No, really. I haven’t been by my local burrito place in a long time, partly due to my mother, so I haven’t been able to get good inspiration for another Burritoverse story. Sorry. For now, enjoy my favorite J-Pop group NiziU.

    IN WHICH SCREW DEADLINES
Hey, y’all. Been a few months. Whoever reads this, just wanted to show I’m not dead yet. Do you know NMIXX? You should.

Right. Now, where was I? Oh, I’m sure I’ll figure it out below the jump.

IN WHICH I LIED TO YOU (SORRY)
So… Turns out it's been a full year (!) since my last story. I promised a couple stories in between but failed to finish them. But at least I got my annual Mayor Mare story in. Have some Twice as penance.

More past the jump, if you're willing.

IN WHICH I LIVE… SORT OF
Hi. Been awhile. Not sure who's left to read this. I just now realized I accidentally added an "L" on my last 3 posts. Oops. Well, enjoy Sir Elton.

So, after fixing my screw-up, let's get to the meat of why I'm writing, if you'll pass the jump with me.

IN WHICH WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING?
Well, the rains have begun. We are expected to get about ~8" (that's ~203mm for those of you in metric-land) over the course of the next 56 hours. That may not sound like a lot, but it is, especially considering the ground here is already saturated and the rivers are already up from last week's rain. I live on a hill, so flooding is the farthest thing from my mind. The only things I have to worry about are power outages and the possibility of a tree falling on my home. Absent either of those things, I've simply battened down the hatches to hunker down for the weekend. See the friendly green rectangle button? I'd like it if you pressed it. I have good news for you.

So, I've created a pagespace for Sunset Shimmer: Spider Queen. I still haven't finished its conclusion, nor have I begun looking for a suitable cover art, but this story is happening. Posh commented AGAIN and implanted another insane idea in my head that I just had to find a way to use. Turns out he and I are both fans of SFDebris. I'll just leave it at that.

EDIT: 2am — FINISHED THE INITIAL DRAFT. </edit>
FURTHER EDIT: 4/29, 10:30pm — MADE REVISIONS AND PORTED TO FIMFIC

SSSQ doesn't have much in the way of music references, which is unusual for me, but it will still contain some of my signature shoutouts to random media. It is unfortunate that I am in the older tier of writers on this site -- though far from the oldest -- and my taste in music is even older. Everyone gets a Beatles reference, but who catches one to Vince Guaraldi, or Nick Drake, or Little Feat? Hell, I've even referenced They Might Be Giants and Fiona Apple and no one caught it.

You know what the biggest crime is? That Disney officially bans fanfiction of their characters (they also technically ban fanart too, but that's a lot harder to stop so they mostly just go after the porn). Oh well, since I can't write a story about Max and Roxanne, I guess I have to settle for doing more Pony stuff until I feel confident enough to write Ketcha of the Plains of the Grass, a retelling of Nausicaä from the viewpoint of the most underrated character in the series.

Anyway, Coffee gave me some great advice on Envelope, so I'm going to revise that story once I'm through with SSSQ, which takes place first anyway. After that, we'll have a nice conversation between Flash and Rarity where they patch up their differences. Then, finally, the arc will end when Sunset begins the process of possibly reconciling with Princess Celestia. I can assure you it's not going to go the way you expect. I say all this because I know no one will have read this far.

I decided to go out one last time before the rains started to buy a burrito (which I hadn't done in four weeks), hoping it might give me ideas for Maud's burrito story. It didn't. I may have to get a rice or taco bowl next time instead.

Well, that's all for now. Peace out!

MADE REVISIONS AND PORTED TO FIMFIC

:yay:

Of course what this tells me is that we need to flood your surroundings more regularly in order to achieve maximum writing speed. :trollestia:

My understanding is that today's episode included Maud, though the presence of company this weekend (and my hesitance to reveal the true depths of my Brony-ness) has delayed my watching. But I think it's approaching the sweet spot time-wise where it's been long enough for a rip to go up on YouTube but not long enough for said rip to get taken down. Perhaps some inspiration might be found therein?

4514309 - I haven't actually been able to watch episodes for the last year due to my laptop being so out of date (I don't have television). I only saw a few episodes of S6, and not the important ones, so I've got a LOT of catching up to do. Getting caught up on Pony is my top priority once I get this old computer updated and a new Netflix account (it feels wrong to piggyback on my ex's).

I haven't left my home since Friday night, and I probably won't leave until Monday, when the rains stop and get replaced by wind. Yay. Still prefer this to the Great Ice Storm of 2009, which was a once-in-500-year event so bad it made the national news -- or so I heard; I lost power for a week.

But yes, as soon as I get SSSQ published, probably later today, I'll start incorporating your revisions into that other story. What do you think of the name A Special Envelope? Technically it's a package, but people might assume the other definition of package. I'm also considering "Her Gift" or "Feelings of a Young Girl". Can't use "you" in a title because people might assume it's a 2nd-person story, which I never write.

4514404 Here... if you can Youtube, this is the version I watched. Audio's a bit jank but it gets the job done:

As for the title: I dunno, I have trouble titling this story and I fear I may do more to lead you astray than to bring clarity at this point. :applejackunsure: Revealing Rarity is maybe my best recent idea.

4514902 - Hmm... That title might actually work. Shifts the focus from the package onto the character. And it IS a very character-driven short. I think Rarity Reveals... (lack of direct object intentional) could fit too. My only quibble is that Rarity spends the vast majority of the story in the bathroom "freshening up", so most of it is from Sunset's POV.

I may have to rewrite the beginning more than I anticipated due to how SSSQ turned out, in order to reference its events. That's what I get for writing stories out of order. :facehoof: It worked for NOFS because there was such a time gap (in-universe and IRL) between H&L and L&H, and Sunset was alone.

4515502 Yeah! I like Rarity Reveals... as a title.

Oh, and I highly doubt she's doing any such thing during the story. There's two doors to that bathroom, right? One of which opens up in the living room? In clear view of the table? :trollestia:
