Flame Wars, Shipping Laws, and how I got my penname · 9:49pm Mar 30th, 2017
(Just giving it a playful dramatic intro)
We all know what flame wars are, usually it's caused by people being overbearing, rude pricks and meanies to others becuase of their choices, beliefs, or just for having a strange pen-name or some other petty thing!
Many people insult me just because of my Pen name "Dakari-KING-Mykan" and they go around bellyaching to others that "He claims he's the real king" or that I should change my name to sound less offensive (Seriously, how pathetic can you get?)
I know I'm not a real KING, It's just a playful thing I do for role-playing and stuff.
Besides, I've seen other people who have royal pen-names.

How I got it was a weird story...
Back in 2002, I was just "Mykan" new at fanfiction, not as good as I was today, and what did I see... Takaris (TK and Kari shippers) ruthlessly beating on Dakaris (Davis and Kari shippers) Leaving endless amounts of flames, hurtful phrases towards Dakaris just for being. (Telling them "Dakari sucks, and you suck" or "Davis doesn't deserve Kari, and you don't deserve to be herer" or even, "Get off Fanfiction! Davis and Kari have no right to be together and you have no right to be here"
That's all they ever said, it was like Fanfictionw asn't big enough for both sides. What was worse, it was heavily evidenced the Takaris had not only thrown the first punch, but they continuously were insulting and being exceedingly rude to Dakaris (As was evidenced that they left ALL their flames and hurtful speeches on the first chapter. even those who commented before just left more flames on the same chapter) Others writing on their homepages they hated Davis, went to great lengths to bash him, and would bash anyone who supported him.
That flame/shipping war was going on LONG before I ever came to writing, as was evidenced by posts made a long time before I signed up, as was evidenced by year old and longer dates of the posts, but what really disturbed me was the Takaris were ACTUALLY convincing Dakaris to quit and abandon their writing. The Dakaris didn't even Stand up for their rights and just left feeling hurt and upset.
I myself was victim to many hurtful sayings, and blocking and reporting didn't do much (The admins did bumpkiss)
So, when push comes to shove, you can bet, I stood up and began to flame and fight back...
Kinda like how Scotty did here when the Klingons insulted the Enterprise.
As a result, I did lose my first account, but many Takaris lost their accounts too, I continue to fight as an anonymous user, but they knew it was me (I put my penname in) Many Dakaris began to realize how right I was and that We Dakaris have RIGHTS... and to stand up for them.
again, I didn't START the war, it was going on long before I came. I just got SUCKED into it. (this was a matter of pride)
Many Dakaris began to look up to me, and even the Takaris acted like "He's some of general of an army" They were right...!
"More like a Dakari King" one of them said, and that was when it became clear. So I donned my new name, "Dakari-KING-Mykan" (Name inspire from DEMON KING PICCOLO)
Unfortunately, the war continued, not only were people starting to bash characters back and forth in their fics in an act of spite, but commenting continued like conversation (Like hitting REPLY on here)
And what was more, we all began to ROLE-PLAY with it... pretending that the Dakaris and Takaris were alien races with super powers, engaged in intergalactic war with one another to get the girl, Kari. (Not a battle of Good VS Evil... but rather EVIL vs EVIL)
Dakari Soldier: "King Mykan!"
Mykan: "What have you to report?"
Soldier: "During our mission, we have discovered that TK's army is diminishing."
Soldier Woman: "It is true. We counted fewer foot-soldiers. We are winning this battle."
Mykan: *Shaking his head* "I'm afraid it is merely a reprieve. TK is in need of soldiers. He plans to send Digimon to Earth, to enslave the people for his purposes, and we must stop him
Or even
Takari soldier: "Our spies have just informed us the Dakari forces are mounting. Their flagship has now just recieved word that the MAIN FLEET is headed for our world."
TK: "What?! The Main Fleet...?!
Soldier: "Yes! Consisting of more than 4-million... 800,000 battle-ready warships; with a destructive force of a small nova!"
Woman: "That's insane! A fleet of almost five million?!! There's no way we can stave them off!!
We wrote scenes back and forth depicting battles, punishment, (My favorite was capturing Takari Keeps and imprisoning the captains inside Pokeball like prisons) And this war does not end until all members of the opposing force are wiped out... EVERY LAST ONE (Including Women and Children) all neutrals trying to interfere and and getting in the way were caught by either tribe and sentenced to death.
(Keep in mind this is a fictional role play)
But all the while, we were all following some strict rules to the shippings... which are still followed in real life.
RULES OF SHIPPING
Be it Davis/TK and Kari... Beast Boy and Raven/Terra... or even among the Ponies or even Bronies and Anti-Bronies (Raven supporters are called RAVENITES... and Terra Supporters are TERRACONS)
-Once you chose your side...you stick with it. No defecting! You are a Takari/Dakari... Brony/Anti-Brony... Ravenite/Terracon (Now and Forever) deviate from that by one step, and it'll cost you.
-You do not support the rivaling couple (Dakari's do not ship Kari and TK and let them ultimately be together... and vice versa) That would count as treason, and both tribes actually agreed then, "We do not tolerate traitors/double agents." (In real life, it earned you SCORN from members of both tribes, and kicked out of groups you were part of)
-Only ONE SIDE can ultimately win the girl, the one who does not get the girl will be cast into oblivion (Killed) and those who are tied to that loser will die too. (Like Alan and Ann and the Doom Tree... "If It dies... WE die") No ifs, ands or buts, Every last Dakari/Takari dies along with TK/Davis.
Wow, Kari has a tough choice, and if she doesn't choose either ONE of them... THEY BOTH will be destroyed (The guy who DOESN'T get her will perish)
So, either TK will die... Davis will die... or they'll both die. (That's my style) Either way you go, someone's not going to be spared, and it's proper that way too. Kind of Like Yugioh Arc V "The winner advances, but the loser gets sent to work in an underground refinery FOREVER!!" There has to be SOME consequence for losing, a little frightening thought to keep you on your tips, make you realize Losing isn't an option, and pushing yourself so hard to make sure that you win... YOUR LIFE/FREEDOM is on the line.
(I like that... A LOT)
-In case of Davis and Kari, the rules of fic making for them is crystal clear (As it is for most ships) Davis is ONLY allowed to have an ultimate and permanent romantic relationship with KARI... ONLY KARI... No one else. So if I were to give Davis another potential girlfriend, they can only hit it off for a short time, but it ends up in breakup (Or worse)
Bottom-line, he's only allowed to forever be with Kari. If he loses her, not only is he not permitted to have another girl in his life, but he is also to be killed so no one else in the fic can even TRY and have him. That's pretty much how Dakari Stories are supposed to be made. Davis either ultimately ends up with Kari, or things go horribly tragic.
He ends up with the GIRL... or he ends up DEAD There is no accepting. There is no moving on... heck, there's not even any "LET'S JUST BE FRIENDS" forget that crap. He loses Kari, THAT'S IT... IT'S OVER... SHE'S GONE... (Just like Beast Boy and Terra with Things Change)
...YOU'VE LOST HER... FOREVER!! YOU WILL NEVER BE HAPPY AGAIN!! (It isn't permitted)
It's not as though the girl is a prize, but rather an assurance... a KEY that will open the door to great things and happiness to come. If the key is lost, the door will remain forever sealed, and Davis/Beast Boy will remain trapped in the darkness and get punished.
they are voted guilty, and therefore they must be sent to the CHAIR... that's mandatory.
Failure to obey this rule (If you make Davis accept it, put Kari and TK together in what's supposed to be a Dakari fic) that's reason, and the punishment stands (FictionallY): Arrested for treason and sentenced to death (REAL LIFE): Scorn from fellow supporters of either tribe, and kicked out of guilds. We do not tolerate traitors."
That's pretty much the basic ways of flame Waring with role-play, and how shipping is normal seen in the eyes of most.
Still, in real life we can have SOME respetc for the opposing, but there's no need or right to needlessly bash, mock, or riff someone because of it. "Don't throw the first punch"
Many have stopped fighting, and even understand the rights to exist, but many more are still unmoved, and continue to fight... but that's pretty much how it is, and always will be.
*Sigh* (At least now you can get a better idea and not get so worked up about pen-names, and GET THE FACTS straight) I didn't start any flame wars, I just got sucked into them. And the KING part is just a pen-name.

The only issue I have with your pen-name is nothing more than a minor nitpick. And honestly, I don't care if you take it into consideration or not. Technically, the actual spelling of the Davis/Kari ship is "Daikari" (with an "I" after the first "A"). The reason for this is that it originated from the original Japanese versions of the names, "Daisuke/Hikari". How you use this little bit of info is up to you. But if it's nothing else, then it's at least a "fun fact".
I don't know who started the flame war you mentioned, but I'll assume you're right and that the Takari side started it. You taking part in the flame war was a choice. That's not to say that you weren't targeted or anything along those lines. But you did choose to become active in the flame war. And by doing so, you have sunk down to their level. You claim you were "sucked in". But the fact is you made the choice to become active in the flame war. By becoming active how you did, you were only adding fuel to the fire. Don't take this the wrong way. I'm not saying this out of criticism. Because the point of fanfictions is so that you can make your own scenarios, whether they be accurate to the source material or not.
Also, if I have one criticism about that flame war, and any flame war involving shipping, is that the main thing that's never considered is the real life scenario based on the characters' ages. Whether it be Digimon, Teen Titans, etc., many people actually don't end up with their school crushes. In reality, they are just kids who are going through hormonal changes and will confuse hormonal attraction with infatuation. I'm not telling anyone how to write their stories, just that shipping usually doesn't take all factors into account.
This is where I have a complaint. It's apparent that you misunderstand the intent of riffing. It doesn't belong in the same classification as bash and mock, because the intent of riffing is not hate, it's entertainment. And riffers do have the right to riff, because of the right to freedom of speech.

I can see Kari in the fetal position stuck choose that could end one but save another with prons and cons in each if she picks Davis I sense Matt will end her or give her eyes of malice for rest of her life. If she picks TK no impirealdramon,we lose goggle captain,and ken loses another friend(which would be three via his brother,Ryo,and now davis
Also that sounds like an epic story tho
